Bye bye navigation beacon

Le sigh. Beacons provide the station coordinates to you. How else could you go to them without first using a discovery scanner to reveal them.

Notice how systems with no stations have no nav beacons?

You sir are a genius. And quite funny. Another "whit?" off my whit-list. :)

The question then becomes...

Can you still jump to that star if the Nav Beacon is destroyed? :D

I'm guessing that you can as it does not seem likely the game is coded to actually require the beacon as an entity to exist.

But to emulate reality, how could you jump to the star without the beacon? And who traveled all that way at sub-light speeds to put it there to begin with?

And why, exactly, do npc ships keep going to them when they ought to know by now that there is no need and they'll only get destroyed?

Doh!
Don't you just love it when someone points out something blindingly obvious but which for some unfathomable reason still escaped you.
