Cable Car Types

In PlanCo 1, we had two styles of cars/gondolas; the fully enclosed cabin, and the little ski-lift style. In PlanCo 2, we only have the fully enclosed cabins. These newer cabins are nice, but I would love to see the older Von Roll Ropeway gondola styles, like these:

While some smaller ones would be nice, I don't think the current ones are suited to outside the park, they are almost identical to the Poma Skyride used inside the theme park, at Alton Towers here in the UK.

You might be right. That sure is one ugly cable car! Too bad they used that one as it's certainly not common or what most people think of unless Alton Towers is your home park. I really dislike that all the cars are enclosed by glass (wrecks the view when you ride) and that you also can't color the cars differently.

I agree completely. Enclosed cabins are suitable for cold/mountainous areas, or where there's a specific need for complete enclosure. A seated ropeway, or open gondola gives a much more open, unobstructed view of the surroundings and a feeling of freedom/flying.

They are based on more modern ones. Is it possible to put scenery around the cabins to make a Von Roll style cabin? In real parks, their days are numbered. Some were already removed from parks in the 80's and 90's and the surviving ones won't last forever. Doppelmayr now handles parts and such for sky ways, and I think they could even build new ones but most parks that don't have them or removed their old ones won't want to build new ones. There were a few other manufacturers of sky rides as well.

You can attach scenery to cabins but it doesn't move properly and doesn't quite work. I tried on day one of the feature being available but haven't checked back. I was just trying to vary the cabin colors but if I remember, the pieces followed the cable and not the car.
