Newcomer / Intro Calculating cap drain for weapons?

I can't help but notice that the wiki doesn't include capacitor drain for weapons. It includes power draw - but that's different. Power draw is how much power it takes to online a weapon, not it's weapons capacitor usage. Also while the power distributor page includes the recharge rate for the weapons capacitor, it doesn't state for how many pips into weapons. So a class 3A power distributor has 2.8 recharge rate for weapons - is that with 1 pip to weapons or 4 pips?

Right now I'm just trying out different weapons configurations on my ship and testing them in-game but this is really time consuming. I wish I could work some things out on paper but I need to know all of the above before I can do that. Does anyone know? Or better yet, has anyone made a weapons capacitor calculator? A little spreadsheet where you could plug in your power distributor, the number of pips to weapons, and then add weapons and see how long your capacitor would last? That would be awesome.

Thanks for your time.

Alright so it helps if I actually read some of the wiki:

"The capacity is the maximum charge in a capacitor, and recharge shows how many power units per second are recharged if that capacitor is at full (four pips). The recharge rate directly correlates to the number of pips. For example, if the 1E Distributor has two pips in Weapons, it will recharge at a rate of .6 power units per second. This means you could fire a single fixed beam laser for approximately six seconds before it overheats."

So it's nice to know that the listed recharge rate on the power distributor is only if it's set to 4 pips. However I have no clue how he is calculating that a beam laser lasts 6 seconds with a 1E power distributor at 2 pips. You can't figure that out without first knowing the capacitor drain of the beam laser, which isn't listed in the wiki. Again the wiki lists the power draw for weapons, but not their capacitor drain.

You might be over thinking it. One decent setup will be very similar to another decent setup. Your fighting style the type of target and the combat situation will have a bigger effect on performance than the numbers.
Everyone has a favourite, and many claim their setup to be 'best'
