Call for help/respond to distress calls

Maybe I haven't encountered this yet if it is already in game, but I think it would be nice feature to be able to send out an S.O.S. when you are under attack and clearly outgunned. Perhaps as a part of the S.O.S. you could specify if you are offering a reward for help, or just asking for people to take mercy and help you for free. A.I. players should be more likely to respond to calls for help when a reward is offered.

Similarly, it would be fun to have A.I. ships sometimes call for help. When you help for free, you could get a larger reputation boost with their faction. When you help for a reward, you would get money, but not a reputation boost.

Those are my two cents... er, credits.
 
Technically helping would already give you money because the person would gain a bounty on their head for attacking you in the first place.

As for an SOS, a beacon would be really cool.. Kinda like the nav beacons but for SOS where it would show up in contacts.
 
agreed, i suggested the same thing a while back. it would give some life to our little solitary bubbles out in space.
 
I've tried to jump into a low energy wake of a friend of mine while playing, he got interdicted so i tried to jump into his low energy wake, the energy wake need so have a gravity pull to it so you can slow down enough to jump into it. To add to that, when i finally managed to jump into it, i could see my friend firing at AI, but the AI wasn't visible to me.

The SOS feature is a good idea, have a marker appear like an UNIDENTIFIED Signal so its easier to jump into it.

Oh yeah,haha, one more. I interdicted an AI, got into a fight with him, he managed to escape, so i scanned the wake, jumped afer him, caught him in supercruise, but then he jumped again while in super-cruise. The isn't a way to scan that high energy wake while in super-cruise, so that you could continue chase.
 
Wasn't a 'distress call' feature active in the beta at some point? I seem to remember it. Though it is true, we could use a distress call option, with at least friendly ships able to react to it (and other players too).
