Hardware & Technical Calling all Lefties! Including David! Lets try and get a right hand throttle made.

I love my T16000 but my right hand hates the keyboard.

Quite odd that while they make the stick ambidextrous, not so the throttle.

Apparently someone in the US used to make a mould to DIY 'swap' a HOTAS throttle for right hand use, but no longer does.

So, two choices here, we set up a 'group buy' list and see if Thrustmaster will do it (unlikely I feel). Or we look for someone with CAD / 3d printing skills and get one made for DIY conversion (the ED Tracker route). 'Surely' its just 2 pieces of plastic....

Anyone with relevant skills / knowledge please post, or reply and add yourself to the 'I'm up for this' list

Another choice is to fly the joystick right handed. I flew symmetrical joysticks for years left handed. Still with all the great HOTAS controllers I decided to take the plunge. Yes, it took about 4 hrs of dedicated playing but my brain finally kicked in. Now it doesn't seem right to fly a joystick with the left hand. My left hand is also better suited for all those buttons on a throttle as well as the keyboard. Also makes it much easier when a player has a HOTAS on a PC and a PlayStation.

I'm in the same boat as Hooplah - I have an X52 which I fly right-handedly. Usually I'm a fully paid up lefty, but I figure as we're only 10% of the population, thus only 10% of the market, most manufacturers aren't going to bother tooling up to suit such a minority. :(

I know this sounds stupid, but is it that hard to get used to? I can't imagine there wouldn't be a reasonable number of leftie fighter pilots in the world, I can't imagine any Government is rushing to swap the controls for them.

Having said that, a modular throttle design, with a reversible grip...

Saitek did modular joysticks, back in the day I had a cyborg 3D (on game-port) which I played Elite:Frontier on. Then more recently they did the ST-290 wihch was lefty friendly. Both these had an integral throttle on the base, the cyborg you could swap what side the lever was on, whereas on the ST290 they put it in the middle on the rear face (an equally crap position for both left and right-handed users).

I wonder if lefties are more accurate with their throttle controls??
