Camera warp bug.

I have been having an issue for a while now where the display will appear to lose tracking and creates this warping effect of the cockpit over and over, like if you were to but 2 mirrors face to face and look into one. As you could imagine, this is an awful effect for VR and is possible the worst thing I have felt while playing VR, oddly enough this issue does not happen if I cover the camera, it loses tracking like normal, but doesn't cause this bug.

When this occurs, the warping effect goes in the direction of the camera, now I have the camera off to the side a bit for tracking, but this has never been an issue, but when this warping occurs, the way to get it to stop, is to look towards the camera.

I'm not sure if its Elite that's the cause or the Oculus Drivers or something else, but this only happens in Elite, and it appears to of gotten worse since 1.5 and Horizons. I don't have high settings in ED due to the focus being on high FPS, but this appears to be caused or triggered when my system starts to struggle with processing, so when its loading in data quickly due to racing across the surface of something, or just a lot happening on screen, although this still doesn't happen every time. Elite for me, for the most part runs very very well, in stations or on surfaces, I usually do not get many, if any drops, especially since the last updates.

I have just recently updated my graphics drivers, so will be testing to see if it continues, but it did after the last update I did.

I've never seen this bug before or heard anyone else mention it, so curious if anyway else has this issue, or if its something with my system.

I'm not sure if what you're describing is the same as a recurring glitch I've had since I started playing ED (always using DK2). Basically it's as if the "camera" (my head) rapidly flickers between its correct position and a point a few meters straight backward over the course of maybe 1-2 seconds. I think it's also usually accompanied by the greying out of lost tracking, not sure if it's always. It's gotten a lot more frequent since Horizons, and I think it usually is triggered when the GPU usage spikes. I think it happened to me in Virtual Desktop also, back when 0.5 was the newest Oculus runtime, so I don't think it's necessarily Elite. Not sure if this is the same as your glitch though...

Your issue sounds familiar but not the same. I did further testing tonight, and it does not appear my issue is to do with ED, as I can recreate the issue in other VR apps now. Seems its more the hardware of my HMD thats the issue, if I shake the headset quickly, like a small fast nodding effect, it appears to cause the device to lose its tracking and cause this graphic issue at the same time instead of just losing tracking like normal. Then the only time it can recalibrate and level itself is when looking at the camera, or just hold your head still for about 10 seconds.

I'll have to test this out further, but at least it does not appear to be an issue with ED, only been noticing it in ED as I look around quickly at times, and this is what triggers it.

This is a classic problem of using the 0.6 SDK for the DK2 as opposed to 0.5.
