Can ALL factions be retreated/expelled from a colonization system?

In a newly colonized system is it possible to retreat or expel all the factions?
Since no faction appears to be 'native'.
What would happen then?
Has anyone tried that yet?
 
No, it's not possible. Having all factions be retreated would imply that at the tick all remaining factions disappeared, they were all on 1% influence, which breaks the rule of "all faction influences must add up to 100% influence across the whole system". The most you could do is retreat all but one faction, but doing that would be really, really hard.
 
But I guess it would be possible to bring in your own faction and kick out everyone else and have absolute power over the system?..

You could bring them over by either buying the system licence from them so that they were the top faction at the start, or by aligning your squadron to them in which case they would be number 3 of the four factions.

I'm not going to doubt you, but it seems like pulling that off with two factions simultaneously would be death by spreadsheets to manage in anything other than the most peaceful systems.
Yes - which makes colonisation targets the ideal place, in a way.

Colonise the system with a low-population (ideally High-Tech for cartographics availability) outpost, finishing it on Wednesday night to minimise the time the mission board is offline, then push the controlling faction hard on all levers. With sufficient effort it should be possible to get to a point where the controlling faction is on 95%+ influence when the 10 day grace period expires - and at that point, the 2% retreat tax should take care of the rest, because it's not as if anyone is going to come to help them.
 
If things go as planned, the retreat of the corporate faction from my system should trigger in coming days.

I might try the silly thing of retreating all but one faction in my next planned system (pure criminal anarchist hideout with negative security), but that's not going to happen anytime soon...
