I rtied to search this topic here, but did not find anything.

I am a bit confused about how how stars/system names are derived. Can anyone explain please?

Sure. See the Decoding Universal Cartographics thread by Jackie Silver.
That sums up how the procedurally generated systems are named, and the rest are manually placed and named.
