Can anyone please help an aging man with a joystick problem?

Hi all

I have a (brand new) HERCULES THRUSTMASTER T-FLIGHT HOTAS X JOYSTICK that worked fine until 3.9 and gamma with the default bindings. Since 3.9 came out the axis button has only worked on one setting so that I can use the big knobbly button on the front of the throttle for left/right thrusters but when I press the button to go from red to green it de-selects the left/right but no longer selects the up/down.

There doesn't seem to be any way to remedy this in key bindings because the axis button itself doesn't appear to be recognised - so the only way to bind the knobbly button is permanently to either up/down or left/right.

I know I could re bind the whole stick but I was chugging along quite nicely with the default settings and at my age I fear change.

Just wondering if anyone knows a way to resolve this - thanyou very much in advance for any replies.

Hey pilot!

I had the HOTAS 2-input-max bug in 3.9, which is unrelated to your issue, BUT...

After Gamma dropped, I found my old binds were available again and figured I could just reinstate them with the tweak for the new FSD arrangement. Launched and immediately began to barrel roll; basically only being launched from a platform gave me the space to notdie. It took a clean rebind to get me back to snuff but it's fine now. I know it's a donkeypain but it might be the way forward. You can wait for Tmaster owners to give specific advice though, in case there's a specific kit thing I'm unaware of.

I can guarantee you that as a Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar owner, with multiple friends using Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthogs.. as a group who are dedicated Alpha players, and since many of us congregate each night on the teamspeak server for voice, teamwork, sharing of all kinds of hackings, bugs, and tidbits.. there is no place I'd rather be..

I'm probably ten times your age in terms of tech experience.. so you're in good hands..

See the link above my sig below.. and begin reading, join teamspeak.. we will do our best to help.

When you join the voice, if I am not on, just ask this one question.. "Maxim said he can help me.. what do you guys think?" and you'll find out just how hard we try to make happy Elite Dangerous customers out of every visitor..

You know they have pills for that right? hehe couldn't resist

I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and keyboard setup. Combine that with Voice Attack and I have more customization than I know what to do with.

One thing I've noticed with my Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X is that Windows doesn't retain the calibration. I had weird intermittent issues until I discovered this. Have you double checked the calibration for the HOTAS and make sure it's all good to go?

Control Panel > Game Controllers > Right click to get the properties dialogue window. There's a button for calibration which opens a series of steps. Just follow each step's instruction and double check it when complete.

From what I've noticed, I lose my calibration whenever I update Windows, log out, reboot, unplug the HOTAS from USB. It's kinda a pain, and if I forget when I load the game, I get some weird control issues.

EDIT: After re-reading your original post, I feel silly for my misunderstanding.

I think the green/red button you're referring to is the "Home" button on the throttle section. From my understanding, this is a built in toggle for the HOTAS, that changes the joystick to either a 4 axis mode or 5 axis mode. If the button is green, the rocker (the knobbly thing on the front of the throttle) is independent from the joystick twist axis. If the button is red, then the joystick twist axis and the rocker are combined. What may be happening is that as you toggle from green to red, you're turning off the knobbly rocker on the front of the throttle, disabling the setting you're using in ED for up/down or left/right thrust.

Sorry for not reading your original post correctly. :)

Hope that helps.
