Can anyone recommend gaming headphones for PS4

Looking to buy some gaming headphones for voice comms and good sound in ED.

Does anyone have any recommendations for something around £50 and ideas with regards to features like:

bluetooth / wired
stereo / surround
over ear / on ear

Thanks.

My son is more into the headphone and mic thing but he has had a few pairs of the Tritton brand which all broke with a couple of months. He then went onto Turtle beach which lasted longer but broke eventually. (in all cases its the mic that stops working).

Hes now on a set of official PS4 ones and so far they have been good, 3 months in.

Budget has been £30-35 each time.

If you're looking for a really good headset, you may need to expand your budget slightly.

Turtle Beach do a great wireless headset (Stealth 400), but it does require a PS4 with audio out (the launch models, and the Pro). I found the fit to be a little tight, especially when wearing glasses but I have a giant head... lol. They're about £60-70, depending on where you go. (Stereo, wireless, over ear, £60-70)

If you don't mind a wire plugged in to the controller, I'd highly recommend the recently released Astro A10s. They're £55, have a really comfortable fit, and they sound fantastic. They also come in a range of colours. (Stereo, wired, over ear, £55)

I have both headsets, but the Astros currently get my vote. They also work on Xbox One and PC (though you need to buy the PC specific version from Astro directly in order to get the adapter, the price remains the same).

Hope that helps :)

Thanks - how does sound quality compare between bluetooth, direct wired to usb and wire to controller jack?

I've used the Turtle Beach Headset since launch (on multiple games), my old PS3 headset is compatible with the PS4 and wires directly to the console/TV.

It sounds exactly the same, tbh.

There may be a fraction of a second delay between a headset wired directly to the console, compared to the two options I've listed, but I haven't noticed it.

They're both quality headsets, and I haven't had any complaints about mic quality yet.

EDIT: It's important to note that while the TB headset is wireless, it's not using bluetooth. The audio out from the console connects to a dongle that takes up one of the USB ports on the console.

Personaly, I just use some cheap ole' ear buds. There lite weight. But if your really into sound, remember gold, silver, tatanium is best in that order. So, what ever your pocket book will allow.

I've got the Sony Gold/2.0 wireless set and really like them. I think calling them 7.1 is pushing it but the spatial sound does work pretty well, the game specific EQs are quite nice too if you can be bothered with them. Also the voice comms seems pretty decent and you can set the balance between game and voice with a few clicks.

It is up on the budget a but though, around the £60ish mark (although Amazon say there is a white set coming out in 4 days at £45 if you can stomach that).
