Can console players at least get the Scorpion SRV?

OK... I get it, the game just isn't going to work on the consoles and I we have no choice but to deal with that and move on, however can we at least get the Scorpion SRV? That's vehicle would be really useful for farming guardian materials etc, and is fun to drive around...

You'll be lucky if you will be playing the game by late 2023. The message was sent. Console players are not wanted. Get a PC or move on. Choice is yours.

"Choice is yours" is complete bull. Console players never HAD a choice in any of this. "Buy a $700 PC or screw off" is not a choice, and considering the complete lack of Space Sims on both Xbox and PS (Elite and NMS are the only two I can think of), there's no variety anywhere on consoles for ED players to flock to. It's a product of Frontier's lazy development and overpromising focusing more on hyping a DLC than actually making it work. And rather than dial bugfixing it up to 11 and repair the problems THEY caused. Instead they screw over two entire platforms because they can spend less effort on fixes by taking advantage of the sheer power of the average gaming PC, just so they can do budget cuts and slack off. And also considering next-gen consoles wont receive Odyssey either, Console players are completely screwed over and getting the -end of the stick from something Frontier has done. So no, there is no choice here, just clueless and entitled PC players who keep failing to understand just how unlucky these people are.

It's called play a different game or look for a different fun genre.

We PC users are as disappointed as you console users are. Not everyone can get a RTX 30-grade GPU to get the game run smoothly in 99.7% of all situations without quality-diminishing workarounds and even most recent CPUs have pathfinding and AI overload issues.

Get a PC or move on

Not necessarily
Get the game on PC (you need to do some research if Frontier version is mandatory or you can get a steam/epic version too)
Get yourself a Geforce Now account (you can start low, but if you're happy if's better to go for the rtx3080 enabled subscription - €20 per month)
Play Odyssey on your console via browser/geforce_now or on a tablet/laptop/whatever random pc.

While €20 per month might sound bad... it's way better than paying €1000 euro for a rather average gaming PC that will be outdated and will need to be replaced in like 4 years.
€1000 euro means 50 months or more than 4 years of a top notch gaming pc.
The only disadvantage is you cant use peripherals, but you cannot really use those on console either.

Edit: not entirely sure if it works on PS, but since MS enabled Edge Chromium on XB (even on XB1) - geforce now is working on Edge Chromium on XB
i've done my reading only for XB since i'm an XB user

Even though the Scorpions poorly implemented for Odyssey it would make ground missions in Horizons a doddle.
For those that haven't figured out yet that you dont even need to really leave your ship.

I dont think this is true... i think the vast majority of pc players sympathise with fully with you guys, but for now that IS your only choice if you want to play ED:O (tho the streaming suggestion is a valid idea).

I know exactly where you are coming from.... i am a 100% VR user with Elite, without it i am not playing. That said (and not saying this is you) there were a number of posters who were very verbal against the backlash of the VR players who complained to Frontier with some even goading us and finding it funny. Some of those were console players. I am not laughing at them at all... but maybe now some of those players know how many of the VR community felt when FD announced to assume no VR at all in ED:O.

I hope going forward FD come up with something..... imo the most likely scenario if console is ever to be supported would be ED 2 as a mult playform current gen game

Sounds like a decent workaround assuming the controller and joystick would work correctly. My only problem would be in seeing whether EDO is worth paying an extra subscription for $10 or $20/mo. The PC players aren't exactly raging about how awesome it is, more so a lack of content. Maybe since they've given consoles the axe they'll have some updates with substance coming out.

How is this a problem?
Paying 20 Euro for a month to try EDO vs spending at least 1000 Euro for an average gaming machine?

For a consoler that doesn't already have a decent gaming PC, spending 20€ vs spending 1000€ is hardly a choice

assuming the controller and joystick would work correctly.

not sure about that, further reading is required
however, both PS and XB support kb/m in browser - so kb/m should work in geforce now

Be mindful that GFN requires an extremely low latency and minimal jitter. Using 4G/5G, mobile or other forms of wireless internet access is not advised.

If it's a matter of trying it to see if it was enjoyable it may not be a problem, but to use it as a replacement for buying a PC then EDO is going to have to step its game up as right now I don't see the value in adding in a subscription service to play the game on top of buying the game.

Edit: I should add that this is only if it were used for EDO. It could definitely open the door to other games console may not have access to!

I hope you do know consoles never once had VR support for Elite. Even the PS4, which has its own VR headset, does not have VR for Elite.

i know..... not sure what your point is.... the ps4 is based around 2013 levels of mid range laptop. the ps4 pro is a little more powerful (i have one) and maybe that could manage ED in VR, i am not sure, but Sony have a rule which means one console is not allowed to have features which the other one cannot run.

Consoles punch above their weight and i was actually impressed with how good PSVR was technically when i tried it (the tracking is awful but that is not the consoles fault) , but there are limits and whilst i hoped i was wrong i never expected PS4 to get elite in VR...... also the PS4 version of Elite was never marketed as a VR title. Frontier Developers did say they would like to get it running in VR on PS4 but they never committed to it and the impression i got from them when i saw them talk about it, i always felt it was a very long shot.

either way............ you seem to be taking your angst out on the wrong people. you sound bitter and to a point i do get it, but................................

I was quite interested in Geforce Now as a potential option but that is a big disadvantage. I switched to a hotas on my PS4 a few months back and wouldn't go back to a controller (which I presume you mean doesn't work either?). A mouse and keyboard is a total non starter as I want to game in my sofa. I sit in front of computer screens at my desk all day for work, not doing that in my gaming time.

Someone reported in the XB section that the controller did work in geforce now, but i doubt the joystick will work

Anyway, assuming you got a PC account (the XB poster i mentioned above made use of a free epic account) - you can try the free geforce now subscription.
You may have some wait time and you will be disconnected after an hour, but it's free and it should be enough to evaluate it.

I've got ED on PC - picked it up a while back when it was free on Epic. The idea of replicating the 3000+ game hours I've done on PS4 makes me want to chew my own face off though. I guess I'll wait until the bitter end when they do eventually turn off the console servers and make a decision.

Maybe they manage to come with a rather complete transfer solution and it will make for a easy move

Indeed... the Scorpion is only good for screenshots and videos (probably the reason how 99% of the players use it).

PS4 does have good antialiasing though. The jaggy lines on PC are something else. I thought I'd set the graphics wrong for ages.
I'm currently watching my messages fill up with invites from the engineers...
Do I consider the PC account to be my main yet? Do I sign up for Cytoscramblers?
I've duplicated my Python and T9 (minus the engineering) got a full set of foot gear at grade 2 and now looking for specific mods...
Still got a bit of button mapping to do. I'm using a Thrustmaster Hotas and Xbox pad (to heck with kb/m).
