I'd find that useful too, and would pay. EVE has something similar for organising training queues and even trading/selling commodities. Having an app that one can use as a kind of ships 'control panel' for navigation, GALNET and other stuff by connecting wirelessly to a game instance on a console or even PC would be awesome. Actual controls such as the target panel, dropping Landing gears and such would be useful.
In fact, the more I think about having a Tablet as a virtual control with dynamic buttons and readouts on it whilst playing on my Xbox, the more I want this...
There are precendent in a way Xbox has Smartglass where you can emulate some controller functions form a tablet. I often use it for a virtual keyboard when using Netflix, for example.
My only concerns would be technical: would a tablet be powerful enough to render a galaxy map? What kind of 'lag' would it introduce and how responsive would it be? Can it even be done?
I just tried using Smartglass with Elite on my Xbox, no go for menu controls, but text input for searching systems on the galactic map worked fine.
It would be a heck of a project tbh: coding and developing for multiple devices, UI design, testing, getting it to communicate info from the game instance to the device, but yeah, I'd love this.
But if so, an Android app, or Win 10 please! I don't have an iPad
