Newcomer / Intro Can I adjust my speed to the enemy's speed?

Can I adjust my speed to the enemy's speed so that I keep behind him and can attack him with my laser?

Sometimes I don't really have the feeling for adjusting the throttle.

Some people suggest setting a key-bind for 50% throttle and just using that in combat - so you are always in the sweet-spot of the blue zone for maximum manoeuvrability.

Personally I use a hotas (the cheap hotas-x which is brilliant) so I can finely and easily control my speed plus I have a button on the throttle assigned to switch Flight Assist (FA) off - set to "hold" so it FA is only off whilst the button is held in.

If FA Off is only off while you press the button you have it set to "hold" not "toggle" ;)

I bounty hunt as my only source of income right now. I can tell you that you just have to adjust the speed the best you can but that it is only for a moment or two that will remain good. Why?? Because the ship you are fighting with, will change up their speed and direction accordingly. When you get into a fight you wil notice that certain ships have certain tactics. A personality of tactics, sort of. Once you are familiar with what they do, you can then learn to adjust your throttle in a kind of preemptive response and stay on top of them or I mean behind them and just deal the damage out. Sound good? It is!!
Some Ships like a Fer-De-Lancey, like to play Joust. You Know,, line up and charge! I have a Vulture and I can play the game with them to a certain extent, but I am always trying to make my break and get in behind them and shoot'em up. Once I get a few good whacks on them, they then start to play the circle game with me which is my strong suit. Now I have them for sure. The money is good too!!
Look, most guys with Fixed hardpoints have to fly directly at you to make a hit. This gives away the advantage of better attack angle vs weapon damage. With a Gimbled weapon system you can fly below your target trajectory, making it more difficult for your target to turn any advantage their way. If you make your flight path as a direct line to your target you are giving them an added opportunity to turn and fire on you. When a Cutter, or a Python, or Anaconda make a move and are looking right down your Windshield, its a chilling experience. They have ALOT of firepower and can hurt you quick.
