Can I allow Team Members to pilot my ships?

I've had several occasions where I or a friend have had better ships for certain mission types, but the other person is the better pilot for that situation. Would it be possible to give Team Members temporary access to command my ships?

For example, during a settlement raid, CMDR 1 owns the better ship to support the mission, but CMDR 2 is the better Pilot, and CMDR 1 prefers FPS gameplay. I'd like it for CMDR 1 in this situation to be able to hand over the keys until they decide otherwise. Of course, the owner of the ship would have an override to recall the ship or boot the other CMDR from the Helm, but I feel like this would make organising a Team much better as we could truly share resources.
 
There have been plenty of occasions (even more since Odyssey's physical multi-crew) where I'd either be happy to lend a ship to another Cmdr, allow them to take the controls with me also on board, or just let them test-fly one of my ships for different reasons. If they pop the thing I'm happy enough to cover the rebuy, if they abuse my trust I'd want a way to be able to override & take back control of the ship (or have it return to dock using the rebuy or ship transfer mechanisms).

Lots of potential activities could come from this, not least of which would be the ability to let players test-fly a ship to see if they like it.

I'd like to be able to have a white list of Cmdrs that can manage my carrier too.

it's a bit convoluted scenario...
Usually the better pilot will also have the better ship which is better suited to the job. Simply because the better pilot is also better at understanding ship mechanics and outfitting.

I would assume they didnt implemented this because a combination of permission issues and the fact that for each voluntary handover (in a friendly scenario) there would be a lot of abuse due to bored "gankers" resorting to multicrew ganking nooblets. At some point the issue tracker had a rather copious amount of "issues" where oblivious noobs complained that their ship was destroyed because, according to the random multicrew dude, the weapons malfunctioned and shot the station by themselves 😂

Consoles have share play built in to allow this to happen, you can give another player who is a friend direct controll of your console and then they play the game instead of you...
You hit the nail on the head for why its "Friends only" and not randoms as the player can do exactly as you said... they can intentionally do bad gameplay things instead of good... As you give them complete controll of that game session... they could just shoot every space cop and get you a rebuy from station instant kill... In other games with FF enabled... They could Team kill the hole side...
