Hardware & Technical Can I bind Elite: Dangerous ship lights to a 2-click slider on my HOTAS?

My Logitech X56 has a 2-click thumb slider on the throttle. It isn't used for anything and I'd like to bind it to the ship lights. Is there any way to bind it so right position = lights on, and left position = lights off? Something else that I might want to try is setting the slider so the left position = combat mode and the right position = analysis mode in the beta.

The lights on/lights off is a button click action, I'm afraid, so I am not sure it will be possible to bind it on a slider, unless you do some magic in the joystick software to convince the game it's a button.
Same with the mode switching.

I know. Some help I am. Good luck, anyway!

Edit: On second thought - if you were able to bind the extreme position as a button cilck (I think the game CAN actually recognize the axis extreme as a "click", you could bind the forward movement of the slider on a primary bind, and backward movement on the secondary bind.
That way the game would see the slider as two buttons that do the same thing, basically.

Think all button presses can be mapped to a button in ED.

A game specific thing.
But it's not entirely straight forward where the game wants to put press action.

I suspect it's towards the end of the axis itself.
Problem is for toggle functions like lights, you will have to push it all the way forward to get an action.
And since it's an action you willnyave to pull it all the way back and the forward again to toggle it.

So getting an on/off you have to flick the axis four times.

Now using other background software many configure this to send an actually button press usually in the middle.
Like 50% = is button down, 55%= button up. Or vice versa.
This way the you can flick the button as you pass over the mid point ofnthw axis and it should work in game as a more sensical toggle.
