Newcomer / Intro Can I buy 1.6 again?

Seriously,

Is there a way I can pay for getting ED 1.6 back again? I will gladly pay another 50€ to get the old Elite back and the 1984 feeling I got from that version. If you feel the same, please add to this thread and maybe we can be put on another server?

Problem with allowing players to revert back to 1.6 is that it would re-open what FDev might consider exploits not to mention compatibility issues with your saves with 2.2 around the corner. Even if you had 1.6 the game launcher will I believe force the update on you and you need the launcher to get your save from their systems. Its not impossible but it would I imagine be very hard to achieve and you'd likely loose any progress the moment you rejoined the current branch.

You already have 1.6 (well 1.6.05 to be exact). 1.6 was with the harder AI/NPCs and has been dumbed down/fixed during the 5 patches.

1.6.05 is the non-Horizons package (which is what I am playing at the moment as I am on Macbook).
2.1.05 is the Horizons version which allows you to land on planets.

So if you launch using non-Horizons you are playing 1.6.05.

1.7/2.2 is planned to be launched in mid-October.

Noticed I put 2.2.05...I meant 2.1.05 of course :eek:...editted.

I'm guessing what pipo actually wants is to revert to 1.5/2.0 which was released late last year with a couple of patches earlier this year before the 1.6/2.1 upgrade, which won't be possible as there will have been some Frontier (& Amazon) server changes tied to the client (PC) side.

Here's a graphic outlining 1.7 (non-Horizons expansion) and 2.2 features so some (not all) features will be for the base 1.7 game:

well, it seems like everyone is missing my point or is making fun of me... Clearly, i am the only one that is struggling with what Elite Dangerous has become, nough said...

Well the answer to your question about buying 1.6 again is NO, because that is the current version.

If you have Horizons you can choose whether to play version 1.6 (no planetary landings/missions) OR play version 2.1 (same game as 1.6 but WITH planetary missions/landings).

You are not the only one at all
I can trade and explore okay but when it comes to any form of combat I lose totally so at the moment I am considering packing it all in

I probably missed the point.. what is your point? You want to play ED v1.6 (though you possibly mean pre-June 2016 ED) and not v2.1 & above because....

I think the answer is no cause as soon as ya smack down on the servers it updates and I cant see fdev dropping back to a previous version to suit a minority.
