Can I easily configure my gamepad exactly like consoles?

I played Elite long ago but this wasn't an option, even when I have the game on pc I'm considering getting it on ps4 because the controls because I dont want to configure that much, etc, is it possible at this moment to just plug the gamepad and it will use it the same way the consoles do without losing any function?

Yup, just go for the layout with name containing "CONTEXT" and you're all home

I gotta say, I've tried my Xbox pad on PC, and my HOTAS is gathering dust ever since. Pad is not as precise, but allow for much more relaxed and flexible gaming position, whereas HOTAS pretty much nails me in the chair.
Frontier has done absolutely outstanding jobs with the pad schema!

oh wow nice to hear, is it true you can configure some functions as complex button combinations or sequences?, I have a problem pressing the sticks of the gamepad

I also have a hotas but want the relaxed way of the gamepad.
