Engineers Can I get sulphur without mining?

Tried mining in the first couple of days I played the game. It's not for me.

But the engineers love these non-commodity things...

Is there any way I can buy this stuff?

It's SUPER common on any rocky planet. You want to seek out metallic meteorites for the ~1% rare ones. But for sulphur, just shoot any rock that you find with the sonar.

If you want to mine for materials with the least effort. Go to metal-rich rings. You'll get sulphur and the other common elements in huge amounts very quickly.

Would it work if you went to rings with a bunch of collection limpets, mining lasers, and no refinery? I never tried that.

No money, but at least NPCs would leave you alone.

1 option:

Get an SRV and a ship with decent range like the Adder, Cobra III, Diamondbacks, Asp, Anaconda. Fit a SRV hanger and buy an SRV for it.

Go to Pleiades Sector OI-T C3-7 and planet B 4 and hit up co-ordinates -19.6535 and -165.4662

Find the barnacle in the ravine, land and get in your SRV.

Target all the "spikes" and shoot them. Collect the materials you want. Return to ship and job done. Sound give you tons of sulphur, zinc, iron, phosphorus, a bit of tin and zinconium iirc as well as some vanadium and very rarely polonium. Probably about 30 pieces of sulphur (10 x3) <- Every bit you pickup is worth 3.

This is what I was waiting to hear. If I've gotta mine, at least I want to know where I'm going and what specifically to do when I get there to make the process efficient. Appreciate this like crazy! :)

If you want a bit more challenge, look for the scattered volcanic sites on volcanically active planets. They show up like those blue POI circles when you're above 2km, but they are a LOT smaller. Then just zoom on down. The volcanism activity thing is a bit sparse, I've done it twice and it hasn't really been worth it.

Barnacles are super, though. Plus you can bring cargo racks and get meta-alloys, for ~88k a pop of profit. (And your location emailed to a half dozen pirates on your way back...)
