Can I just take a minute to say how much I love my Python?

Seriously, this ship is amazing. Almost fully engineered (still only G3 shield generator and dirty drives), I have enough cargo space to stack a few hauling missions (especially now that they've been patched to actually pay well), and enough firepower and defenses to wreck the face of any NPC that interdicts me without bringing a wing. Had a million credits worth of missions stacked (okay, just two missions, to be fair), got interdicted by a Deadly Anaconda; the poor schmuck couldn't even get my shields down by one ring before I'd collected an extra 200k bounty off him.

All that and I can still dock at any base.

I look forward to getting the cash to fully outfit an Anaconda one of these days (still haven't had the chance to try out SLFs), but there's no way I'll ever sell this ship. It's a beast.

I love mine as well. multi-purpose setup with a lot a fire power:)

I'm in the situation where I'm not particularly good at trading. Carrying 400 tons of stuff might net me 500,000cr if I'm very lucky .
I tend to make more money doing missions.

Should I consider selling the type 9 and getting a python instead? I don't know - the Type 9 has three missile launchers and a fighter - it can take down a DBX in a couple of volleys of missiles...

What do you folks think?

Looking good with the ship kit! I use the same wings and prow, but with the three small fins instead of the spoiler. Haven't gotten around to shelling out for a paintjob yet...

I haven't tried the T9, but I like the Python cause it can do trading and combat equally well, especially when engineered. I enjoy bounty hunting more than trading, but also like to be able to do missions and community goals. So if all you want is to trade, T9 will probably be fine, especially with a fighter. But if you want to do some bounty hunting as well, I'd say the Python's a better choice.

You can put three missile racks on a Python (2 on the medium hardpoints and one on the large hardpoint in the nose), and still have two large hardpoints free for guns. It will carry substantially less cargo but be much faster and more manoeuvrable than your Type 9 (especially engineered).

Mine carries 192 cargo, cruises at 343 m/s and boosts to 445 m/s.

I find the Python makes a great missile boat.

I gave up hauling when I discovered many more millions can be got in cz's and stacking CM's.

Good decision - sold my first Python almost two years ago for an Anaconda. It was a mistake and I rebought it a month later. If I had to pick one ship from my roster (incuding an Anaconda, Cutter and Corvette), it would be a close call between the Anaconda and Python, but I'd definitely go Python.

Swap an E5 32 cargo with an A5 Fuel Scoop for those long trips and still have 176 cargo! I store the Fuel Scoop at my home base while doing local missions then swap it out for that 250LY trip. At 0.58T/S scoop rate the tank fills up FAST!

I'd likely have to Engineer the crap out of my Python before I'd consider using it as more than a CG trader. I much prefer the smaller and more nimble ships. But hey, it does make for a pretty decent CG trader, and isn't too bad on the old eyes either. :)

In the event that I ever do actually return from the black (I'm having far too much fun in an Asp up on the roof of the galaxy) a Python will be my next purchase.

I'll probably 'borrow' one of Iain M. Banks' Culture ship names: she'll be the Sweet and Full of Grace.

I really really dislike the Python on many levels, i've bought and sold several. Same for the Imperial Clipper. However, at this point, the Clipper is long gone, and yet i still find myself with a Python in my stable. I just have to keep buying them, so might as well keep one around. Just so damn useful!

Mmm, the infamous Duck Billed Python – an instant classic. ;)

God those body kits are revolting. My condolences to the artist responsible for designing the original ships.

Could have been better (straighter and thinner edges and bordering that matches the ship design more), but I still prefer it over the odd stock humpback look of the ship. It needed something to balance it out more for me.
