Newcomer / Intro Can I purchase ARX with a steam card which is very easy to buy here in Canada?

I don't use a credit card and I'm wondering if I can use the readily available steam gift cards
what cards do I have to buy to use in the shop?

It gives me a couple of options

On the steam page it lists ED : Horizons Season Pass as one of my 2 DLC's
does that mean that I have the ability to go down to planets and explore them?

The Dolphin is a very good ship but it isn’t ideal for combat and if you need to scoop cargo it can be very frustrating due to the cockpit design.
It has an immunity to heat damage which could lead you into trouble with other ships when jumping near a star.

Yes Horizons gave access to planet surfaces with no atmosphere and the ability to drive on them in an SRV, it also gave access to certain ships like the Dolphin.

Every start is standard - you pass exams and get loaned smallest / cheapest ship and some credits (I think amount is different, if you start in Odyssey you will get 20x times more credits).
Than you can play & buy ships, learn to upgrade it OR buy some pre-upgraded for real money. Still, you can change upgrades there. Initial ship/upgrades can be restored infinite (of the real moneys' ship), 1 copy at once.
About DLCs:
1. Elite - fly ships.
2. Horizons - land on some planets, drive SRV (car) on those planets.
3. Odyssey - land on even more planets, exit ship / car on foot and walk / shoot.

Players from the different modes cannot play together as the team.

Options (1) and (2) are playable in 2 different modes: legacy and current. Legacy has completely own game client, old images, can work on old PCs/ consoles. Galaxy is frozen there. All new events happen in "current" mode only. You CMDRs are separated between those 2 modes. It's like parallel realities.

A minor quibble about the DLCs items 1 & 2 were seperate when they were released in that order but were rolled into one in preparation for Odyssey I am not sure they can be played separately now. It is why the stuck recovery was added to the main menu as the log into base game option was gone.
