Engineers Can I re-engineer my FSD?

I got a decent roll of 51% at Farseer which gives me a jump range of almost 60 ly and applied it (Anaconda). I noticed I still have 12 units of mats for another try at a better roll but can I go back to Farseer and try again or is it a once only thing and I have to store my engineered FSD, buy a new one and engineer that in the hope of a better roll?

Yup you can re-roll over and over and discard anything that does not improve what you already have.

As you said though, if you have the funds to buy another one, it might make sense to do that and store the existing good one, to transplant into a different ship. I think the Corvette and the T-9 are currently the only other ships that take a size 6 FSD?

As others said you can re-roll and 'overwrite' your current modification.
You can also remove all modifications from your module, restore it to it's unmodified state. There is an option for that.

yes, of course! store the current one and engineer a new one is also a good idea! maybe you have use for the old one on another ship!

Getting a decent FSD roll on the first few tries try doesn't take too many. Maximizing the FSD for say an explorer Anaconda might take you another 50 or more rolls. This also works the same with weapons looking for unique capabilities. At best I'll see one in ten rolls coming up with the unique additions I'm looking for with weapons. Bring lots of materials if you are looking maximize their potential and know what you are looking for.

When you take a module such as an FSD to an engineer, start with a clean one.

The rolls on a clean module give you a set of results that are weighted towards the primary functions, The FSD % improvement you noted.

Once you've locked in your primary result, the subsequent rolls are weighted towards the secondary characteristics. If these improve, they are more likely to be detrimental to your primary result. Very seldomly will the primary and secondary improve at the same time, though I've seen it happen.

I've got a 50 roll stash of stuff for a G5 DD, I would love to get 140%, unlikely though (I have 2 135's), I'll try after the update unless the Thargoids destroy Palin's lab.
