Can I recover exo-biology data?

Hi, does anyone have any advice? I was out in the black exploring for weeks, lots of exo-biology scans. On a planet I was stationary in my Scarab but had to deal with a family mater. When I got back to my computer I was at the recovery screen?! I was put back in my ship above the planet, Scarab had blown up somehow?! Got back to a station and all my exo-biology scans were gone. Any way of getting exo-biology scans back, some I'd spent hours on to find the third sample. I'd weeks getting all of them.

Sadly you cannot get them back, other than going back through and re-scanning everything.

Note: Never go AFK without logging out, especially in an SRV which can and will run out of fuel and explode, but even in a ship. Stuff happens when you're online, but you're always safe if you log off.

most of the times i have died in this game has been afk you think your safe but you aint
fortunately for me i have had nowt really to loose not being in a exploration role at that time
its the one role you cant really afford to loose ya ship not due to its value but due to what it contains
there have been some real horror stories like after two years getting ganked on the last leg of the journey home to sell the accumulated data so that last leg should always be played in solo to negate that potential risk factor

if exploring the captains log is essential so you dont end up howling at the moon for lost things;)

Well..... Feel sick. Thanks anyway guys, I appreciate your replies. Have a good Christmas and Happy New Year.
I'm back off into the black in a ship I've renamed 'Idiot'.
My 4 months of data lost above, was the sum of three consecutive attempts of 3 months, 1 month and about 2 weeks. The first loss was to a canyon wall, I accidentally hit boost when I was still pointed at a the ground...The second loss was due to stopping too close to a neutron star while repairing my ship for its 7th consecutive neutron star jump. Once my shields went down to repair, it was all over...The third loss was due to, similar to you, getting called away for RL and never getting back to the game until 5am the next morning to find out that, only 30 minutes prior, my ship had exploded, I assume it was due to a distinct absence of fuel in the tank...

Long term exploration is hard because you're playing against yourself...

Good luck and I hope you fare better than I did. Bring us a better ending next time... ;)
