Can I reduce the throttle tension on my new Saitek x55?

Got my new Saitek x55 Rhino today. And I have to say guys, ITS BRILLIANT!!
Quality workmanship. The game is soo much easier and better with one of these beauties!
Only one grip, and that is the throttle is stiff. I know there is a rotary switch on its left side that I can turn to increase/decrease the tension, and I have decreased it as far as it will go, but it is still hardish to move. If I increase the tension, then it gets REALLY hard to move.
Any suggestions guys?
Also can't use the slider switch on it's right hand side, its labled SLD. Wanted to use that to select the left and right hand UI panels

I only have an x-52.
I don't think you can use the sliders for much in elite; I ignore those and the "mouse" on mine.

Here is what I did that helped reduce the tension on my X55 throttle. First, tighten the throttle as far as it will go. Yep I said tighten it. Now move the throttle back and forth quickly for about 30 seconds to a minute. Once done reduce the tension and the throttle should be much easier to move. After I did this I only need to move the throttle back and forth quickly and the tension is so light I can move the throttle easily with my finger. I believe it is the grease they used that causes the throttle to be so hard to move.

Can't help with the throttle stiffness, other than to say it gets a lot smoother once it's "broken in". As far as the slider switch goes, you'll need to use the X55 software to map it to a key. I use mine for the cargo scoop, and set cargo scoop to hold mode in control bindings. Unfortunately, the slider isn't an analogue axis as I presumed, it isn't even a two position switch as such, it's just a standard on/off switch.

I have the x-55 and haven't had to do anything really, it has become looser with use but even so I have kept it on the loosest setting.

Yeah the sliders, knobs, and built in mouses are pretty well ornamental in ED.I'm using an X52 but I think it's pretty similar to the X55.

I've proposed a few times to add control axis' to sensor range and sub target selection so we could use them (I was thinking the slider or a for sensor range and middle mouse wheel for sub targets) but got no response from FD about it, of course. (But yeah, we really needed icons in the controller settings right?) You could even add axis for sensor target selection as well and use the knobs for that.

I use button D (joy 5) on the stick to activate the UI then the Castle Hat to move to the panels.

I had the same issue with the x55. I put a small amount of Teflon grease on it and now it slides back and forth easier.

Where did you apply the Teflon exactly?

I noticed before my daughter wrapped mine for Xmas, it was stiff. I did the same as the poster above, whacked it back and forth a few times to loosen it up.
I suspect Saitech deliberately designed it to be "initially" stiff, knowing that the mechanism would loosen as it wears in.

Just on the the top of the 2 throttle slides. Noticed it smoothed out and dropped the tention immediately.

IN the profile editor you can assign the sliders and rotaries as "Bands", then define keystrokes for each band yo define. Each band is a percentage of the axis. For instance I used the little mouse nub on my thumb to emulate WASD keys for fine tuning navigation with my left thumb while I drink coffee with my right hand.

Look up tutorials on the web for a better guide on how to do it.

just got mine today and same thing, I hope it loosens with time but its all great otherwise

i use slider for landing gear, bound in both directions.

i also found my x52pro throttle tension was less on an issue once i got it secured from moving about.
