Hardware & Technical Can I run Elite: Dangerous?

I'm new to the community but here we go, I'm a college student so I dont exactly have alot of money but I'm interested in purchasing Elite: Dangerous. What I'd like to know before hand though is if I can even run it. I've looked at multiple sources and have come out more confused than anything as one well tell me my gpu is not good enough, but then I'll read a posting that indicates it's more than enough.

I have:

Direct X 11
Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40 GHZ 2.40 GHZ
12 GB installed Ram (11.94 GB usable)
GeForce GT 740M
Windows 7

I'm looking at getting the game in the next couple of weeks, any help would be greatly appreciated :)

If I can run it without problem with all graphics on high with an old

Q9550 core2 quad clocked at 3.2
8gm ram. Ran well on 4.
GeForce gtx560
windows 64 bit

I don't think you will have any problems.

It's a laptop, but I reckon it will run E: D just fine if you're willing to skimp on fancier GFX effects (like bloom & shadows).

Might have to step down resolutionwise from 1920x1080 too.
