Hardware & Technical Can I run elite dangerous?

I know this thread has been made many times, but I am thinking of purchasing an ASUS K501UX-DM136T gaming laptop.
The specs are as follows:
CPU: Core i5-6200U (2 Core, 4 Threads) @2.3GHz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: GTX 950M 2GB DDR3 VRAM

If I can run it, what would be the highest setting I can run it?

You won't have problems running Elite on medium details. Maybe even High, it depends on what resolution do you use.

When I'm traveling, I play on my laptop which has dual-core i3 and GF920M (= real crap for gaming) and it runs it on medium/low settings at 30+FPS and 25FPS on planets.

You'll be fine.
