Hardware & Technical Can I run Elite Dangerous?

Sad to say, I do not have a huge ATX tower, and in fact, I have a HP Pavilion g7. With that in mind, and the game releasing right around the corner. I was wondering if anyone else out there was brave enough to ignore the game requirements, and went ahead and bought the game anyways, as I don't want to brave it if my computer can't handle it.

What requirements say........................What my laptop says it has.

Direct X 11.........................................Direct X 11
Quad Core CPU (4x2Ghz)......................AMD A8-4500M APU w/ Radeon HD Graphics 1.9 Ghz
2GB sytem RAM..................................4GB system RAM (with 512MB on video)
DX 10 hardware GPU...........................AMD Radeon HD 7640G Discrete-Class graphics
Internet Connection........................................ ...............Yea, I have that.
Windows 7.x or 8.x............................................... .........Windows 8.1.

So basically, what I am asking, is will my CPU and GPU be able to handle it? I know I would have to put it on some of the lowest setting possible, and I am okay with that for now. Planning on building a nice computer in July, but don't want to miss out on the ED action.

Well my laptop with only integrated graphics is doing ok. With everything turned right down.
(i do have 8gb ram and an i5)

Thanks for that, nifty sight. I like it. It states I don't have enough dedicated video RAM. My computer though, changes the amount of system RAM it uses for video, based on how much it needs, up to 2.5GB about. Then it shows my CPU with a blue circle, not stating if it would work, or not work with my current CPU.

Yea, Arjmor, an i5 would be heaven for me! I've always been a fan of intel, and I just don't feel this AMD is working for me like an intel would.

i cant say but these guys can try this site i use it a lot and it will tell you for sure and if not it will let you know why not

hope this helps :D and i hope it will run it for you too.

I just got done looking up the requirements for EVE Online, as that is what I was playing prior to this month. While it says I failed 59% for EVE, I was able to run it just fine, with low settings. While I only failed ED at 24%

Once the game is loaded, open the options and select Graphics and reduce some of the more demanding facilities. Frame Sync for example. But also some of the shadows and effects.

Not sure about the settings on that GPU, but on mine (NVIDIA) I can turn off 3d and change the emphasis to performance as opposed to quality. I find the differences to be negligible. But to be fair, I'm really old, have poor eyesight and think playing is rather more interesting than standing back and looking at 'Cool Graphics'.
