Can I run it?

I personally think that an i7 processor is overkill for just about any game that is currently available or likely to come out in the next couple of years. I am not planning to replace my core i5 due to the very slim chance that it might not be able to handle the game. I will definitely be replacing my current graphics card though for something a bit more modern.

I haven't donated to this game yet for 1 reason, same as with ever KS...I'm broke but also I'm really not sure if I can run this game. I looked over the specs and I THINK I can but I dont KNOW if I can. Here are my specs:

GPU: GeForce GTX 780M
CPU: Intel core i7-4700mq cpu @ 2.40ghz
RAM: 8.00 GB
Yes you can. I have a similar laptop but with the GTX 760m and it runs fine at the native 1600 X 900 res.

My desktop has less than all your specs on all counts (GTX 5something, i5, 4gb ram) and runs fine (during the 5 minutes I am at home) at 1080p.

Both at high settings.

I'm not sure that is true really, and with the way gaming has evolved its not really what processor game needs but more what GPU the game needs and what CPU is needed to keep that GPU fed with data. As you add in more GPU's using SLI/Crossfire this becomes more of an issue, for playing at very high resolutions for instance.

I hear what you're saying, Memnoch, but I'm not sure I totally agree. Sure, an i7 will handle anything you throw at it, but an overclocked high-end i5 reaches around 98% of the i7's performance for a lot less money & all you lose is the Hyperthreading, which is no loss at all in games. I haven't heard of a fast i5 struggling to keep up with a multi-GPU setup either.

So far as GPUs themselves go, I don't see them needing to get much faster as in-game graphics are unlikely to see any dramatic improvement without introducing real-time raytracing, which would also require a new generation of (very expensive) GFX cards. As that doesn't appear to be imminent or even on the distant horizon I doubt we're going to see it anytime soon.

If you're building a multi high-end GPU machine then go ahead & buy the fastest CPU available, because the extra cost isn't going to bother you, but if you're one of us mere mortals then I suggest that a 'K series' i5 & a good GPU is a more cost effective choice, & one that will keep you happy for the forseeable future.

Thinking about upgrading my current graphics card to run ED when its released. Here are my current specs:
CPU: AMD F6 (6xcore) 6300 BE - Piledriver 3.50GHz
RAM: 2GB DDR3 1333MHz
BOARD: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2P
MONITOR: Maximum resolution on the monitor is 1280x1024 via DVI
GPU: NOVATECH ATI RADEON 6450 1024MB

This runs Skyrim on low settings at around 30fps

I'm thinking of replacing the HD6450 with this:

SAPPHIRE Radeon R7 250 1GB GDDR5
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/...raphicscards/amdr7250series/11215-00-20g.html

As I'm on a tight budget and this seems to outperform what I've got at the moment. Opinions please?

Also is it worth upgrading the RAM? Bearing in mind I can only take up to max 16GB in DDR3 x2 sticks @ 1333MHz.

Thanks

Processor: Core i7
RAM: 8GB
Operating system: Windows 7 64 bit
Graphics: GeForce GT525M
Laptop: Dell XPS L502X
Monitor: BenQ W1000 + Full HD projector
Sound: Motu 828 Mk III

Whilst I'm running the alpha, my entire system starts getting very jerky, audio cracks up and then sometimes everything grinds to a halt, I can't even get task manager up and I have to to a hard shutdown. This is making the alpha unplayable for me :(

It's happening even on the first mission, even without the Motu soundcard plugged in, minimal applications running. Doesn't appear to be related to the amount of action going on.

I'm on Win 7 64bit. More system RAM I presume you mean?

Another question did occur re the graphics card is what will most likely perform better - 2GB of GDDR3 or 1GB of GDDR5?

Last time I had to think this much about graphics cards was more on the lines of "VGA or SVGA?"!

Yeah sorry - system RAM indeed (I have 8GB DDR3 (2x4) @1333). As for gfx cards/RAM - I know too little to advise.

1 GB GDDR5 definitely.

I'm way below your spec on a laptop and I run it fine. :) It's around 20 FPS but I don't notice it at all really.

I have closed this thread as we already have one to cover this topic here http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8231 if the conversation could pleasse continue in there that would be fantastic.
