Ships Can Imperial Courier upgrade lightweight alloy at all?

Spent better part of day this morning cruising every high tech world from Lembava all the way to other side of bubble at Alioth.

No high tech world I stopped at had military composite armor. But I now recall that when I stopped at some of those worlds with my Asp, I could swear that it had military composite armor as upgrade.

But in my Imperial Courier, I'm just not given that option. Maybe they are really out of stock but want to check - does anyone know for sure if the Imperial Courier can upgrade armor at all?

Yep - this is bizarre but with other ships on tech worlds that have military composite, in same class as Imperial Courier, I can upgrade the armor.

But on Imperial Courier, won't allow armor upgrades. Is this some weird design element of the courier? Odd that that I can put same class I1 mil spec on a sidewinder but can't on imperial courier

On my imperial courier i use mil armor from Beta-1 Tucanae. According to game from 144 armor i have 280 armor not bad for a ship so small. The speed bleed on the other hand.............

Some stations, even those with 'Outfitting' may not supply that type of item. Not all modules are available at every outfitting station. Try another location.

Unless there's been a change, you can only buy bulkhead(s) for your ship when both conditions apply:
Station sells bulkheads
Station sells the ship you're trying to buy bulkheads for.

Oh wait - um, didn't know that.

So if the station doesn't sell the ship - it can't upgrade the bulkhead armor to military composite?

Ok thanks, will try that and go to an imperial world where they sell couriers and see if I can upgrade there

I bought my courier on discount from yong-rui world of Baldr - so I am going to see if I can upgrade my armor there first, before trying imperial space if that doesn't work.

This is invaluable info to know going forward, or upgrading my armor on future ships would have been a frustrating process.

Went to imperial world where courier sold and upgrade was allowed.

It is very Imperial, innit?

Matrix is:

<MatrixRed> 0, 0.15, 1 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 1, 0.05, 0 </MatrixBlue>

So you can see it in action:

Allies are green, Neutrals are pale blue, enemies are dark blue / flashing red when they're shooting at you. The pale vs dark blue is more distinct than it looks here.

As stated above you can find the armor upgrades several places.
Any station that sells them has them mostly, as does many systems around Cubo and stations in that system as well..

However imo you do not want the armor as even tho it is fairly light even 4 or 5 tons can drop your speed and acceleration by noticeable amounts, the Courier seems to be very heavily affected by weight.
Example my 82 ton Courier does 306/413 with 4 pips and can outmaneuver a A class vulture, however add just 10 tons and it suddenly hits only 289/398 and gets worse from there so really you want a lightweight build to make her shine. She seems to handle best at 75 tons but i settled for 82 for 360+ shields and scb's.

PS: Awesome color scheme on that HUD Cunomaglus, i will add it to my collection and be using that with my courier

Yea me too. It seems station can change what ships they sell.

3 days ago Baldr sold imperial couriers with 15% discount - so i bought mine there and figured woild get the armor there with discount as well.

but they now no longer have couriers in stock, so no ability to upgrade armor. Bah.

My question on this thread would be: why would you want to change the armour on the courier? It's first and only line of defense are the shields. You can boost those to incredible strength, making you really hard to kill. In contrast when the shields are down the damage reduction of bulkheads won't make much of a difference, as your hull strength itself is so low. At the same time, the additional weight costs you a lot of agility.

Lightweight alloys all the way for the Courier!
