Can lasers get a little love..

With the new engineer maximums the lasers are so far behind in terms of damage it's not even practical anymore. Projectile weapons enjoy 2km+ ranges and prints that increase damage. Lasers with anything but long range are pretty much ineffective beyond 1.5KM.

Using anything other than Long Range I practically need to hump my opponent for them to work well.

Can we have something other than PAs for PvP please..

Including shields and hull cause I mean...

Some fights go on forever. I mean. Its a test of endurance in some cases. I don't know how people do it!

If a PvE fight goes on for 5 mins imo it's taking too long. If a PvP fight takes more than 10 minutes it's clearly pretty evenly matched. However in a PvP match if the opponent is just sitting there with massive defences that's boring and buffing the weapons won't help that, nerfing the defences will.

Personally I'm okay with massive shields, there is a significant energy cost (and mass for prismatics) and if someone wants to make that sacrifice to feel safe I'd say they should feel safe :) I'm not so keen on shield boosters & other hitpoint buffing modules.

The issue with weapons is not that lasers aren't as good as the other stuff, it's that the other stuff is OP. imo the gap between an ordinary ship and a fully buffed up one is too great, that gap should be reduced to allow skill to be more of a factor than loadout.

But then power creep is inevitable in a game like this, maybe I'm just too nostalgic.

ETA I absolutely agree something needs to be done to allow for more varied loadouts. Ideally one that works well for both PvP and PvE.

I'd love to see defences get nerfed a bit.

It's disappointing to see straight up excellent pilots (FA off, fixed loadout) lose to MJ stacked 4-0-2 FA on blue zone damage sponges.

I've just accepted that my current ship will keep it's craptastic lasers and simply lose every fight its in against meta ships.

I'm tired of getting backed into a corner and only a handful of builds being viable.

The power creep is so bad those "new weapons" are largely ignored. Why on earth would you use the new weapons when a PA does twice the damage with 1/10 the time on target.


Great job on the CP and planets. Works well and the planets look gorgeous.

Also found a listening post. Scarlett was rescued. That was interesting game play. But is there anyway to provide closure with these? Did I help stop the smuggling?
