Can material rewards be fixed please?

It used to be possible to get polonium, ruthenium, and other rare materials through missions. These missions were rare, but that was good. It was nice to have a few materials that I didn't care who I had to kill to get.

the recent fix that made exquisite focus crystals available again was nice. But it is only a bandaid over what is now a broken mission reward system. Now exquisite focus crystals are the new biotech conductors. They are now so common that seeing a mission with them is boring.

I think it should be possible to get small amounts of every material from missions. Fine if these missions are uncommon, or only offered from high tech Imperial theocracies on a Friday. Make them low paid, high risk, large cargo, long range, chained missions with multiple random redirects. Difficult is fun.

Yep, I think a review needs to be done.

Cracked Industrial Firmware are marked as common but is as hard to get as Modified Embedded Firmware (rare). Classified Scan Databanks (also common) are so plentiful I'm throwing them out by the dozen.

Funny thing is, it was working fine when the system was first implemented. Elements turned up as mission rewards. The rarity of the material actually seemed to match it's in game frequency. Now it's all out of whack.

Yeeeeessss! currently rare materials (especially metallic ones) have been a real thorn in my side to acquire ( or never had the chance to acquire due to rarity). setting a nice set of randomised materials...(but not too much) would be nice...cant tell you how many blasted flawless focus crystals I have thrown away, I seriously seems to be only a few materials and data available. most of them are only rarely used in upgrades anyway! vast arrays of materials would clog your storages very quickly. but very rare materials at the expense of loss of credits payed sounds pretty fair. materials can be worth more than credits as most of us would know ;)

sounds like a plan though! Keep at it!

Exactly. It did work, as it was possible to get most things. There were a few rare items that I don't think were ever offered, such as yttrium. This is fine for a few. Now I don't even bother looking at the material rewards, as it's always the same things.

Would be nice to remove existing mats from mission rewards and allow them to be obtained with credits via roaming traders. The traders have very long set routes and you can either jump from system to system along their route until you find their beacon or you can wait in one of the systems until they turn up. It makes the mats hard to obtain but not impossible and also allows you to buy the mats as you need them. You still have to farm mats to do the upgrades but mats required to unlock RNGineers can be done via these traders.

Certain mats that are very hard to get required for upgrades could also be obtained via missions. It allows us to obtain things like Chemical Manipulators without murdering traders and miners to get them.

Good thing you don't have to murder traders and miners to get them then.
If you're talking about randomly spawning in POI and USS, if you find enough within a week to do a few rolls to ensure you get at least one good one, you'd best do the lottery because it seems you're on a very lucky streak.

I could easily find 30 Chemical Manipulators from randoms USS in a week. Others, less likely but CMs are really common.

Also I never get that line about buying the lotto after a miraculous event, surely all your luck was just used up? ;)

+1
Trying to get Cracked Ind Firmware.
Tried the 1st 8 settlements using the fantastic EDPathFinder and nothing. NOTHING!!!
To rub salt in? I hate with a passion the driving element of this game lol

EDIT:
...............make that 9.
Anyone want to wing up and join the crack train? (humour - I'm not going to do that) But I wonder why people do?????

If they replaced the commodity rewards offered with these rares instead that would be good, apart from those dratted Modular terminals!
