Can one LOVE the Python?

4 months ago, I have set my sights on the Python. Not all effort was solely towards this goal and I've got to experience some of the awesomest gaming moments of my life. I've also fallen in love with a few ships. Namely the Eagle, the Asp, and my current vehicle, the mighty Driftship.

I never sell ships I've gotten to love. But it's getting pretty hard to resist the Python's call and that means I'll have to sell my pimped-out Dropship. I know I can rebuy it later on but I'm a little bit (too much) of a nutcase and don't want to do that.

So, commanders. Go or no-go?

Humbly yours, a guy who loves spaceships.

Have not flown drop ship. Had viper vobra asp adder vulture. I thought vulture was awsome until I got a python. Didnt get to try it pre nerf.

The fire power is wow. Land at outpost good cargo fuel tank.

But first thought was this is a brick. Have not upgraded past d thrusters but even tgat makes a difference. You just learn to fly correctly thinking about angles of attack and speed then you soon fall in love with it.

Biggest negative is rebuy cost. I like res. After wiping out on asteriod I got back in vulture. Yes this dances around like a ballerina and once thought had good fire power but it felt mew. So back in python. Home sweet home.

Just tried burst on class 3 and underwhelmed at moment. Can run on a5 powerplant with kws cargo and shield booster and cell

I've had my Python for a couple weeks now, and yeah, I LOVE it. Sell your Dropship and never look back! I didn't sell my ASP though, since it is definitely better for exploring - but the Python is really good at just about everything else. 284t of cargo is nothing to sneeze at, and I'm making credits faster than I ever thought possible. The way the Python moves through space, it just looks classy (to me). I liked my Cobra, I like my ASP, but I would buy a t-shirt if they made a Python one! Plan to get tactical paint pack for it as well. Did I mention I love my Python?

Humbly yours, a guy who loves spaceships. :D

Cheerio mate. The outfitting and the journey to A-rated kit is what attracts me the most on the Python!

The Dropship has its limits in this, but it's the way that thing flies that's making me reconsider again and again. It's such a mental drifter! Also, in the pirate skin, it just looks baaad aaass!

I sure do.
I love it for the wide range of possibilities it opens up.
It is a very good trader, and you can turn it into a very powerful warship too. Or you can chose the middle road and turn it into a trader with very sharp teeth. But that is not where it ends. This ship can become a viable explorer, or an armed miner too.

I do a lot of bounty hunting and I discovered that the 3 class 3 beams my Python carries can melt Anaconda's when up close. I barge into them like a rhinoceros, evaporating their shields, and than melt their power plants in seconds.

This beast can do everything.
Also a big plus for me is the fact that it can dock everywhere. Being able to use outposts is a blessing.
The Python is my big love.

I've never owned a python as I don't have that kind of CR, but IMHO it's the best looking ship in the game. I always do a double take every time I see one.

She's a lovely ship. I bid mine adieu last week as I moved up to a 'conda, but I suspect I'll take her out of mothballs at some point. She's a dream to fly once you A-rate her.

Python is a great all rounder. I miss mine (more than any other ship I have flown so far) since I upgraded. I will have one again - once I have saved up the credits.

Just buy her a beer first and be careful those thrusters get hot!
kidding aside get the Python I've flown both the Python is still an amazing ship.

Look at the shiny - I love it in ASBO yellow too!

I use the Python more than the Anaconda now; keep the 'conda for trading and have the Python as an all out warship. Still have 48t cargo so was extremely useful for getting the Fed/Empire ranks up as it could do everything!

I'm two modules away from a fully A-rated Python and loving every minute I'm flying it. Does well in combat, can haul 240T of cargo, and has both scanners and a fuel scoop.

Whatever I decide I want to do, it's ready to rock as soon as I hit the flight deck.

One can definitely love the Python. Treat it right, it'll even love you back.

I tought I loved the Clipper, she was my girl....then I got a Python, a flying staffordshire bull terrier.

Its all about the beams for me, the Clippers convergence meant she had to go gimballed beams, and what nobody ever tells you is that gimballed weapons have about half the range and only about 75% damage of the fixed versions.

3 large fixed beams are truely awesome, and with a B class powerplant the Python can fire them a wll without melting, the gimballed cannon are there for smallertargets and because everyone loves cannon, but even at 500m 2 of the 3 large beams can converge on a sidey or eagle, anything bigger gets all 3 beams at 500m. A 2km I can still be hurting boom'n'zoomers, something gimballed beams just cannot do (they strugge past 850m-1km).

I've named my Python the "Lee Jackson" (a Rod Stewart joke for us oldies), and I am exploring while trading while still fitted for combat, only 1 scb and 192t cargo, but can do any job, and smuggles better than any other ship IMHO. Living the "broken dream".

So yes, you can, and definately will love the Python, wats not to love, the Pythons your boy.

OP, If you have enough credits for some upgrades and insurance - I would suggest about 80 million credits as a minimum - go for it.

The Python is a lovely ship, as long as you don't intend to outrun people in it - you won't.

It is extremely expensive to outfit, though, and insurance goes up pretty fast as you upgrade your modules.

Notwithstanding, I believe it is worth every credit.

Good cargo capacity, awesome weaponry, decently agile, and enough power and internal slots to do almost anything you can think of.

Not to mention the amazing cockpit, rugged looks, and the tradition and reliability of a 600 years old design.

Lovely, that ship is a beauty.

… keep the 'conda for trading and have the Python as an all out warship. …

That's what I want to do, but the 'conda constantly whispers about war and destruction. Problem is, the Python whispered the same. Oh that sirens song while hauling stuff from A to B.
I need a trading ship to pay insurance if the unthinkable happens and those A modules are expensive … I loved my Python.

I wouldnt say "love", thats reserved for my wife. But i definetly like the python VERY much... even with the violet paint my wife suggested... "only thing missing now is some handpainted yellow blossoms all over it, contradicts the OP weapons nicely. ;) "

The conda is a great warship and if the corvette isn't released with 1.3 then i may refit her back to the monster she can be!

but... with the python you get about 80% of the firepower for half the cost, a lot more maneuverability and outpost docking which is hella useful if you get a fine!

Python is all round the best ship in the game, even post nerf. It's incredibly flexible, not just in application but in fitting and handles far better than some bad pilots will have you believe. It costs a tidy sum to get fully kitted out if combat is your aim, but once sorted it's a beast of a ship. The only thing it sucks at is chasing smaller, faster player ships, but they can't kill you anyway.
