Can only select oculus rift in single player combat training

I played through the single player combat training with the Oculus Rift, and had no problem getting it working by following all the common suggestions found anywhere. The problem I'm having is that when I select Elite: Dangerous in the launcher instead of single player combat training, I don't get the Oculus Rift option under the 3D settings. I can go back to single player and it works fine, so I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right. This is really starting to bug me. I've tried restarting everything, and updating drivers (yes, I know about the newest Nvidia driver problem) but it still won't give me the Oculus Rift Option. Has anyone else encountered this?

Yes, It's in extended mode and running as a secondary monitor. I've been trying everything I can think of, but so far it's still only working properly in single player combat training. Why would It work in single player, but not give me the option in the main game? I really don't get it. Looks like I'm going back to do more single player combat training.

?

If you set the rift in options at the title page, then all of your game selections will be through the rift. You should not have to go into the graphic options in the game past the main menu.

Or are you saying that when selecting the main game, the display goes blank? Or - the start option remains red (no connection)?

Sorry, I can't quite figure out what you are trying to describe.

Okay, what I'm saying is that if I select single player combat training in the launcher, go into the game, then options/graphics settings, I can select Oculus Rift under the 3D settings.

That's all good so far, but if I select Elite Dangerous in the launcher, go into the game, then options/graphics settings, the only options under 3D settings are Anaglyph and Side by side, I don't get the option to pick Oculus Rift.

he means the 2 diff game modes, single player combat from the launcher and the main game.
2 separate gui's and settings

single player combat mode (not closed online mode, true single player mode) = rift ok

regular game = not able to select dk2

you should be in contact with the devs, this is a douzy

This is a new one, I've certainly not heard this before. If it were me, I'd uninstall and reinstall ED and see if that helps.

Make sure you're running 4.4 runtime.

this and last Oculus Rift firmware. The executable of the training part is older than the game one so it explain. I suggest to go straitght to last Beta Runtime 5.0.1 (from memory) and skip 4.4 by the way, work fine for me...

Are you using reshader ? I found that if I use the autoconfiguration in Dshader, when I ran ED it would only start in training mode. I had to copy the dshader files where the elite32.exe was located I was able to run Elite normally.
