Can repair/boot not repair damaged frame shift drive?

I thought frame shift was included in repair/reboot sequence. Is this this not so?

you can reboot the FSD, the only issue is an FSD with health below 85% will show signs of faults (false starts and cutting out) Should still be enough to get you home.

No worries. I was stuck, but I managed to get it going again some how, but the repair didn't seem to work. Logging out and back in did the job though.

It was at 32%, but failed to start. It the was only module that took any significant damage and repair reboot did work on several tries. Logging out and back made it start.

Reboot and repair is only for restoring destroyed modules (0%) by a couple percent to bring them back online. It does nothing for modules that are damaged but intact. Actual repair is what an AFMU is for.

If your FSD still had 35% left then you're just stuck fighting the RNG getting it to start without malfunction.

Reboot/repair was developed by FD when players complained that a single module had been destroyed and there was no way to now get to a station (FSD and Thrusters are two that come to mind), as they said surely it would be possible for a ship to manage basic repairs (even if an auto repair unit wasn't fitted). It completely shuts down your ship (so do this in normal space when there is no danger around), starts it all back up, evaluates the various systems, and then scavenges bits from working systems to bring dead systems back into life (OK, 1% active, but at least it now works). For each 1% repaired scavenged systems take 2% damage, and (if my memory is correct) systems below 10% will not be scavenged from.

Sensors had to be the most frustrating subsystem to lose. You couldn't request docking clearance without them, so even if the rest of your ship was still entirely functional all you could do was fly around until you ran out of fuel.

Yeah when I was a noob. This happened to me in my brand new viper. Cracked canopy, much damage. Made it back to station only to find no contacts hehe. Didn't know about reboot back then.
