Can select the system but unable to select a dropoff point for long range travel

Hey all - support has been kind enough to try to help me out here but while they are still helping me, I thought I'd post here for an issue that I simply cannot figure out.

After accepting a mission in Odyssey in a nearby system, I go to the Apex counter, select to book long range travel, then select the system (I'm in Okinura, mission is in Dvoruba) where the mission is, then I hold the button to select the dropoff point, but the I'm stuck on the galaxy map and no additional window, no list, no nothing appears which allows me to select one of the 7 dropoff points.

It is clear that when I select Dvoruba from the galaxy map that Apex has 7 drop off locations by the window that appears in the the upper right side of my window, but even when I select the highlighted "7 dropoff locations" no further selections appear. The window simply reverts back to the galaxy map but all the galaxy filtering options are missing. I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong here.

Thinking I could just have some fun in Okinura, I accepted an on foot mission within Okinura. Because I'm a noob at Odyssey, I failed at the mission and naturally got sent to a detention center. I walk up the the Apex desk to get transported back to Okinura and I'll be damned if the same thing happens. I can select "long range travel" but there's no window, no pop-up, not selection anywhere in the window to select my drop off point. Support was able to transport my commander back from detention to my ship in Okinura and did not have any issue in selecting the drop off point.

I have validated the game files, updated my graphics card drivers (using DDU), and reinstalled Elite but nothing has resolved it. As I just told support I'm beginning to think I'm doing something wrong but whatever it is I'm either too stupid to figure out or it's not easily apparent to me. There is something on my machine that is causing the issue, I'm sure, but hell if I know where to start now given that I've already done a reinstall.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas or perhaps experienced this before?

Yes, when first requesting for long range transport I get the blue icon in the galaxy map on the left. I don't have a mission now to grab a screenshot but I should mention that even now, when simply selecting transport to say Wolf 287, when trying to select the drop off point, the window simply has no options. Screenshots hopefully tell the story - first one I've selected Wolf 287 and being prompted to select the 1 dropoff point. I click on the yellow "Select Drop Off Point" box and the second screenshot shows what I see...no way to select anything. As if another page should load but never does...all the selection options simply disappear.

Oh, the mission icons on the left show my failed missions only.

I have got to be missing something but I'm stumped.

I don't know about Apex, but when in a normal ship you only have to click and hold down on the left-most blue globe (it may expand to a mission list, hold the button down as you select the mission on that list to plot the course/select the target) for it to set your mission destination (port, base etc) as the journey destination, so that may work instead of needing to find the drop-off port?

You're doing a press-and-hold on the "Select A Dropoff Point" button, and it doesn't open the System map? If so, then it's bugged in some way.

Yep, as above. It can take a while to load into the system map after choosing a system but if you've waited minutes and nothing changes I would suspect your install is indeed broken somehow.

Welp, I'm seriously stumped. I installed ED from scratch on another computer here in my office. Same damn thing is happening to me...the drop off point selection simply never appears for me. I've tried pressing and holding the star system. I've tried clicking on the star system them clicking on the yellow box that appears in the upper right corner of the window (see the images above) and I've waited...no system map ever appears.

Thanks for the comments and thoughts everyone. In both machines, within a coupe days of each other, it began working again. I honestly have no idea what I did but, when opening the drop off location and experiencing the same issue I simply got up and walked around for a few minutes...10m or something with the window open.

Nothing ever appeared. As expected.

So I shut elite down frustrated, came back and bam, the system map loaded thr next time I tried it.

On my primary rig I did the same thing and was successful as well.

It's as if the system maps were maybe trying to be loaded in the background but never appeared but something on my network maybe was causing an issue.

Support suggested that it may had been a network issue as well when I contacted them so I restarted routers, access points, and even made fixed IP addresses for each machine. But, at the time it made no difference.

Anyway, wish I had something more than "it just fixed itself" as a response.

I was so frustrated I actually thought about buying no man's sky or star citizen...

<Insert Clint Eastwood shudder>

We're you wanted anywhere? I had this issue after shooting up a base, seems the local authorities were in every system nearby and I couldn't book a shuttle until I found a system that wasn't influenced by them.

Hello everyone, I want to say that I am in the same problem as your m06w41, I do not know what to do since yesterday I suffer from this unknown problem and I have tried everything that you have tried but without luck for me, months ago it also happened to me but It only lasted half a day, what a big disappointment it is not being able to play and not knowing how to solve the problem.

I've noticed that sometimes simply the loading of all the planets and suns detail takes time, if no-one else's suggested it yet, try turning DOWN the detail in the galaxy map, and err.... is there another one for the detail in system map?

mmm... not sure, but i found things that make SUNS more difficult to draw, made it worse, for me. reduce THOSE down, then try it again. shrugs :)

i know you're talking about when trying to use a particular button AFTER everything should've loaded, but it did work for me. i imagine it was some kind of active object files PRE-rendering prep, for the new screen - the close up of the planet ... perhaps for ugh... i dunno... background diffused light, mmm... lighting realism or something, it keeps loading the suns' light for a realistic light-SOURCE effect, on the zoomed in map, and so it tries re-loading it all AGAIN, in addition to the zoomed down local map?

shrugs if you've got a beast of a machine running it then i guess that's unlikely, if you're struggling to get good framerates X detail, then that could be it.
also try the "terrain-work" slider , and try trimming the "terrain quality" down one, other terrains, volumetric (it is a static 2D of a 3D object, so maybe?) , ambient occulsion, bloom, directional shadows?, etc
