Newcomer / Intro Can somebody explain Anarchy systems again? Thought it was anything goes in there. Why the fine?

Sitting in Wodimui, an anarchy system. Not much traffic in here, so I thought I'd work on some interdiction and NPC freighter robbing practice. A type 6 spawns in, and I interdict and open fire. Immediately, I get a 400cr fine for opening fire. Whatever... I'll keep pinging this guy and see if he'll start crapping cargo. He blows up and I get a 5000cr bounty for the murder of the NPC.

In an Anarchy system????

I did notice there's two Empire platforms in the system. But the galaxy map shows this to be anarchy. Checked it four times now, just to be sure. Another strange thing - some people show up as WANTED. I thought in Anarchy systems, everyone was clean until you scanned them?

I paid the fine, and just take out the wanted NPCs. Is the platform presence enough to fine me, even though it shows up as Anarchy?

How close were you to the platform? While the status of the 'deep space' in a system is that of the controlling faction, so in this case presumably anarchy, the area around any space stations has the status of the station's faction.

You can check the status of where you currently are in the bottom left of the HUD. Also, is your bounty an Empire bounty?

Remembering, it was a freighter that jumped into the nav point. I was close to the nav point and circled to interdict him. The closest platform was probably 300ls or less from the star. It was an Empire bounty. Probably just a bit too close to the platform.

Well, if you see wanted people and get bounty for murder, the simplest answer would be Wodimui is not an Anarchy. ;)

But I believe you checked twice. But unless you were in no fire zone by some station, I'd even suspect a bug.
I'm around. I'll go check >.<

EDIT: Okay, I checked. Although the system is listed as Anarchy on map, it seems that imperial party "Wodimui Interstellar" recently gained majority in the system. So technically it's an Empire space, now. :)
And due to obvious instability after recent revolution, the place is swarming with internal security vessels. So tough luck, buddy.

Also, I looked forward to meeting you. Shame. :( :D

Cool. I wasn't sure if it was old age catching up to me, or if something was up. Guess the system is on the cusp of switching over to the Empire.

Yeah... as far as being wanted, I thought about that for a bit. Do I fly around with the Wanted tags and see if it draws anyone? I figured it'd be prudent to drop into the station and pay the fine.

I wonder if you had the same problem as me just now.

Can't remember the system, but the galaxy map definitely said Anarchy.
When I was at the star's Nav point, I noticed in the bottom left corner that it said Federation..

I was also seeing ships that were Wanted - that never happens in an Anarchy system.
Lucky as I had already killed 3 ships before I realised it wasn't actually an Anarchy system - all were wanted before I fired gladly.

So it seems the galaxy map was wrong.
