Can someone explain me ED logic?

Why we have a bunch of attachments for the ship such as wings, spoilers, side boards etc. but we don’t have a proper (arcade) 3rd person view to enjoy a look of your ship after tuning?
And why we don’t have an option to change HUD (officially) inside of the cabin which we see most of the time during the play?
I think devs should do something with view alternatives or give us an option to change a HUD at least
And one more question: is this contact (website) is really working? I mean did you ever received a feedback from devs or your ideas was implemented into the game?
I’m starting to have a doubts 😅

Edhm changes HUD colours

There's an external camera view which is customisable

And no they've never responded to my suggestions either.
Guess they know better
lol please read my post again))
I’m talking about normal 3rd view camera, not what they have as a free look camera which doesn’t have position save even once you will change it
And I specially mentioned OFFICIALLY changing HUD, not all this manipulations with text files of the game or external program (I’m playing on steam deck and doesn’t have this option)
No offence

There's no 3rd person because they made a deliberate choice to restrict pilot information. 3rd person would be incredbily helpful in combat as you'd suddenly have massively increased situational awareness. That isn't the design that they went for. They instead went for limited view and important information hidden around the cockpit. Someone came up with the fancy lidar scanner and you WILL use it because you've got no choice and no visibility.

The HUD i'll never understand as they could have monetised that years ago but it wasn't designed that way and for a long time their game concept was bigger than the developer team. They spend so much time putting out fires and fixing stuff that new updates have broken that nice to have features never make it to the top of the list.

The answer to almost all the questions about why is simply they don't have the capacity for nice to have when they're spending all their time just trying to fix basic stuff that breaks because the game is sprawling and old. There is a deliberate design to add sup optimal stuff that takes filler time to pad out all the activities and ensure things take longer.

PilotB, nice answer, thanks!
It’s so open and good that I’m starting to thing you are one of devs😅😅
About 3rd person view - your opinion makes sense, but when you wouldn’t have hud during the flight with this kind of view, there will be no change to aim or so on, but you I can enjoy the views
Yes, in terms of some game features it’s better to do not have it, but I think it’s so small so cannot really help you to win the fight but can be a good feature to just enjoy the game
Plus imagine how many players will come to play after it))

No arcade view, as this is a simulator for the most part. You can still fly your ship in the external camera.

IIRC the reason for the lack of HUD colour changes is related to the fact that it affects some other UI elements that misbehave when you change HUD colours directly (see the old method of editing the configuration file to achieve this).

As for the feedback - yes, it is listened to. Latest example is a lot of people asking for more control over colonised systems economy and FDEV implementing exactly that via weak/strong links based on community feedback.

If they were to reply to every suggestion, they'd have to stop doing everything else! :D

Because it isn't an arcade game so much as a flight sim in space, although it isn't the equivalent of arcade game view we can use the camera suite to obtain beauty shots of our ships, some are talented enough to create movies that way.

No idea really, someone did say the orange was less likely to cause problems for those with colour blindness. The colours are highly interlinked which is why prior to UDHM-UI it was such a faff trying to do it from outside.

It would be good to have an ingame HUD changer arcade view is something that for me wouldn't be worth the dev time to produce obviously you think differently.

My ideas no but there have been changes from feedback in this and other forums. We get information from the community management team but not in this forum which is for us to make suggestions not for them to waste time replying to.
I’m starting to have a doubts 😅

And I still didn’t get it. We don’t have an acracde 3rd person view because we are playing in simulator, but hey here we have free cam for you)))
About HUD, if changing HUD is a problem for them because it affects other elements, then why another good guy made a program which is used by many people and everything works fine))

That mod uses a separate DLL file to plugin some shaders. It does not work fine, it messes up the interior lighting and it also can mess up the external camera view if misconfigured, which bleeds the colours outside of your ship.

It is entirely different solution to changing the HUD colours in the game directly.

This game is as much an arcade as it is a simulator already. The only "simulator" thing about it is its flight control scheme. But above all, it feels like an MMORPG. Yes RPG, not just MMO. That being said, I'm all for the idea.

Existence of the radar and the target holo gives players more information than what a 3rd person camera ever could anyway.

Peeking around corners can be dealt with if you give the camera a hitbox and a texture. Like a limpet, for example. If it gets destroyed, there could be a cooldown. And again... Radar exists. Permanent minimap with nearby enemy locations always marked.

The radar works just fine in my opinion. It shows exactly where every ship and object are related to your position. It you want more realism the engine supports VR. I so want to try that. A tip is to assign a single key to external cam. I use the key [.] - period for that. But if you use that in combat, you loose track of the targets that you can't see in front of you. If you need that, get a gunner in team that can take that role.
