Can someone explain power play

Can someone help me understand power play? I've looked at posts and still don't understand. I understand I'm supposed to take materials from a base system to other systems. That's all I understand. How much cc do you move each week? Does the type matter?

I'm trying to get the prismatic shield from ailing Duval if that matters

it's all changing relatively soon anyway.

If you want prismatic shields, and all you care about is getting prismatic shields, here's what you do: wait until you have been pledged to Duval for a month, then do enough powerplay actions to rank up to whatever the rank is that qualifies you for the modules. Probably rank 4 but whatever look it up. Rank is re-calculated each week based on total merits, so you have to do this the week before you intend to buy the modules. Then as soon as you are rank 4 or whatever, buy them.

You can get merits all kinds of ways, but the fastest easiest way is with a big cargo ship. Go to cubeo and fill up on fortification materials, and then drop them off at any control system. 750 units delivered = 750 merits = you can buy Prismatic Shields the following week.

Whatever we tell you will only be good for a couple more months at most (provided there's no delay), so just wait till September for PP 2.0

Search YT for Elite Dangerous Power Play modules. There are several videos by current and former players of Elite Dangerous. Basically sign up, wait 3 weeks and 4 days before the Thursday morning tick... Go to power HQ, grab way too many 'stuffs' from the power play and deliver to the power play contact under contacts in a certain type of system. I finished getting all the power play modules earlier this year. My T9 got a workout hauling those '' supplies from one system to the other, and it costs you $$$. YT videos will literally walk you through it. Should only be 1-2 hours work for earning the right to buy those modules.

FYI - Prismatics are EXPENSIVE. I think I spent over 1 Billion buying 2 of each size prismatic... I hope you have a T9 for the 750 cargo needed for the deliveries and the $$$ needed and open slots in your module storage. Good Luck.

If you cannot find the YT vids let this thread know and one of us can track down an exact example. PP 1.0 has not changed in years so the vids could be several years old at this point and they will work fine, UNTIL pp2.0 drops, which should be in Sept 2024, FDev has not given us an exact date yet.

In the case that you really want to know beyond the explanations above, there are in game videos.

From the main menu choose help or something like that...look for training and then poke around for the power play videos. I think there are 3 or 4 and each builds on the previous one.

If you're 'module shopping' and purely using hauling as your preference there are 2 methods;
1) Sign up, do nothing for 3 weeks then spend a colossal amount of credits to get PP cargo (I think Aisling has some sort of propaganda leaflets) that should then be taken out and delivered somewhere not run by Aisling. Wait til Thursday to rank up and then buy from pretty much anywhere.
2) Do little trips over the month to increase your rank so you don't have to spend anything on the cargo. and scatter it to wherever you happen to wander. If you don't pass the threshold noone should know you were ever there.

Didnt know they were expensive, but best shields in the game, and for a cutter, that saves a lot of hull damage, and cutters are pricy to repair

question: If me & my guild/squadron are already "pledged" to another president/superpower , can i just leave that previous SP and go join 'Duval' instead? i mean ME, not my squadron since i don't think the game allows for swapping once committed. So like, does it matter temporarily for a few weeks if my personal character is aligned with 'Duval' ( just for the prismatic unlock ) even though my squadron is still with previous SP ?

*Sorry OP for sorta briefly hijacking your thread btw :cool:

Players can change pledges at any time, but there is a cost, usually credits i believe
