Can someone explain what happened here? Did ATR waste a clean cmdr?

I was pirating a python at the CG, everything went well but then his shields instantly dropped as he was leaving and ATR messages started spamming the chat. He was clean. Any idea what happened? At first I thought maybe a ganker had dropped in, but usually they will drop right at our original location and I saw no one drop in. Also, his shields dropped in a manner that looked like a generator failure.

Did ATR just show up and kill the victim??

On 59 seconds, his sheild dropped instantly which suggests he activated silent running to avoid a scan...but he was too late and got scanned and if he was intentionally trying to avoid being scanned, then theres a reason why...what that is only he and the cops know.

Thats the best explanation I can come up with after watching it 4 times ^

It's very faint, but you can see a second hollow indicator on the radar. That CMDR just got ganked right after the piracy act.

It's also odd he didn't drop in on top of us. Usually if someone drops in on a low wake they will land within 3km of the drop point. If it was a ganker, what a loser.

My guess is that he spotted you interdicting the Python in SC, and by the time he managed to reach the Python wake, you already had finished your business.

Yeah the drop point is odd, but considering the distance between you and the Python when the ganker dropped, (and the fact that her most probably targeted the Python wake signal) maybe the game made him appear very close to the Python, similar to NPC pirates that may drop on you.

I just had to chime back in and say Im still laughing lol. That pilot must feel so setup and betrayed. Your word is probably meaningless to them now. [haha] Im sorry, but im getting a kick out of this.

you can see the "1 new contact" message in the info panel when the ganker comes in.
from what you can see towards the end of your vid, it was a corvette or conda

I sent him a friend request, he has not accepted or denied it yet. Just gonna make sure he knows I had nothing to do with that.

Looks like it (bug). FDev at their finest. Sorry, but, things like this should not be happening on release code. Fix your test procedure FDev.
