I have a vague recollection from the promotional material for C64 and Spectum Elite that they messed about Ship kill value.
For Example: it was noted that a tactic in BBC Elite was that you would shoot up the station and then take out as many vipers as you could when then launched from the station. When you couldn't take any more, you would eject, thus clearing your record after all the murders of the many police officers.
To get round this, I remember someone saying that they were planning to altered the value of killing a viper to such a low value that it wasn't worth doing i.e. viper = 0.1 of a kill and that they'd do the same with the values of the other ships as well (thargoid = 2, Cobra 1, sidewinder = 0.5).
Was that actually implemented?
