Can we customise our cockpits?

Birds say that will come, and the current "edit via notepad" method is a placeholder while the full functionality is not implemented yet.
I'm looking forward to some official interior customization options (and the ability to name a ship, add Cmdr name to side, etc.)

If anyone thinks spacefaring humans even 1k+ years from now will not have a sense of humor about the machines they live in, make a living with, and potentially die in... well, I believe they are mistaken.

Customisation options for the HUD are coming at some point, as confirmed by one of the devs (I don't recall which post it was but it's on here somewhere).
As for the rest of the cockpit, I don't know... Perhaps some options will become available once the 1st person EVA expansion is in active development. It would be nice for RP'ers to have little trinkets in their ships as a sign of some of the places they've visited. Also, some of the books and stories tell of pilots doing up their cockpits (fitting luxury cabins for themselves, retrofitting high-class furnishings to Fer-De-Lance ships as was their original function as passenger boats, etc).
I don't expect to see that level of customisation for a long time though.

I want a Kerbal bobblehead for my dashboard, to put next to my viper pilot Jesus.
Some of us who were incredibly interested in MWO but saw the price tag for the founder's packs and walked away would say that the cash grab started earlier than you seem to remember, but that's a moot point. Cosmetics can't ruin a business model that isn't already broken. That sort of stuff is decided months before a game enters Alpha anymore, and ED is doing fine so far. Expect them to continue on the same course they have.
Could be as simple as allowing CMDRs to stick a photo of their girlfriend/wife/family/favourite glamour model/dog/David Braben/Barak Obama on their dash
Oh, would love that. A placeholder taped polaroid frame to upload your own pics. Since it's local no need to worry about explicit visual content being seen by others...oO
