Engineers Can we get an ETA or something?

Now with tons of engineer commodities in my hold i can't play anymore. (Cant go to Rez cause wanted NPCs always go after my Mats, Missions only fill my cargo hold with more stuff to carry around, and i can't switch to another Ship because they have less to no cargo hold)

I have to decide... discard all mission reward commodities or wait for an update/fix/hot-fix.

So can we get a word from FD? If there is a plan for a hot-fix in the next 1-3 days or will it take 1-3 weeks or months?
If there is no solution in sight i consider to throw them away and concentrate on other game aspects.

I think the best thing at this point would be to remove commodities from the engineer requirements entirely. Just use the weightless materials. It would solve every problem we have right now with requiring cargo racks, switching into small ships, pirate hassle, and just having to lug around all that useless crap reducing your jump range and manoeuvrability.
Requiring commodities that take up precious cargo space makes the weightless materials redundant anyway, so why bother having them as a requirement when they cause so many problems that apparently nobody saw coming pre-beta.

That sounds like a sensible ideal solution so it won't happen.....

So why not just wait till you are headed to an engineer to collect them like I do instead of flying around with them all the time.

Also storage IS coming relatively soonish. If not 2.2 it will be a 2.X kind of thing.

To be fair, the notion that you can carry 600 various elements and components around in your spacesuit pocket is not less ridiculous.

I totally agree. Made the mistake of accepting a mission with some "useful" cargo rewards. Now I'm faced with the dilemma of putting everything on hold and tracking down the right ingredients for the right engineer. Putting cargo requirements in with engineers before any kind of cargo storage system was a poor decision IMO.

This sounds good.

In the sense of the space simulator, it's rubbish, yeah. But mechanically, at least until they come up with something better, it begrudgingly does the job with fewer headaches than would be caused by giving them real mass and volume that you had to account for. The cargo fiasco we're dealing with now is precisely why having mats be weightless was important.

They are really easy to get/find when needed, so my solution for now is just selling them, and when i need them i will find them again.
Very far from ideal as it is basically a waste of time, but having to carry all this stuff around is much worse.

thats too late.

Atm only options are to accumulate with the risks and hassles that involves, gather per blueprint (also has risks) or invest in another account and use that as cargo-bank (relative risk free).

Which commodities are using cargo space? Everything I've gathered for the engineers so far has been weightless non-cargo stuff, except the initial soontil relics. Even things you scoop end up in your materials list and not your cargo hold. NPCs have shown no interest in them so far.

ok... I think i discard them...
The only short term solution to this seems to change the recipes so that they are no longer needed. All other solutions should take much longer to implement and test. Though if i don't want to carry this stuff for weeks, i have to get rid of it.

How does this new acct work with the current one though. How do items transfer to the current ship from the new account?

It's weekend, and believe it or not, game developers are people too, they have days off like anyone else, usually on weekends.

Two accounts, two computers, meet in private group, dump from one, scoop with the other.
Functional, but not practical for most.
.
I think a lot of people are trying to gather anything just in case like most do in an RPG with a storage chest.
I think the practical solution or expectation is that you decide what upgrade you want, pin the requirements like a shopping list and then go locate the components as you need them.
.
I'm only taking a commodity reward mission if it pays really well (dumping/selling the reward), or if I actually need the rewarded materiel for the upgrade I'm actively chasing.
.
Supposedly storage is coming and then you can hoard. Until then I believe the above is practical.

I think you have only found the materials then, not the commodities. Things like nanobreakers, something membranes, etc will be located in your cargo hold. You can verify it in your righthand menu in the cargo hold tab. You'll also get crafting commodities and materials as rewards for missions. They are two different types. One is stored in your cargohold, the other in your magic sack of mystery.
