I would even be happy with minor Faction Decals if Frontier does not want to release the Major Faction Decals.
You could make it a competition. Choose 4 minor factions from the Alliance, Federation, Empire and Independents and have the community make designs, and the winners end up in the game. Of course you only unlock them once you're at Allied status for that faction.
Could be a great opportunity for Frontier to spread some Lore as they can give a brief history on each faction. Could become a regular thing if time and resources permit
