Can we make an exception for abandoned slaves?

Abandoned slaves as their lifesupport in the cannister will only have a finite life they should turn into "animal meat" or "fertliser"

Otherwise slave trade - its all credits to the me, If you want to be ethical in the game go for it all the more slaves guns and narcotics for the rest of us to trade. Personally to me its a game and I can be as hard nosed as I want

I would like to say I'm that honourable.........................................but the money is more important than their well being. I almost wish I had a bigger ship when I saw that slaves were on sale 20% discount at Lagerkvist gateway. I would pack em in tight for the big payoff.

As as you say. It is just a game. However in one breath you imply that the slave trade is not an important issue but in the next you imply that the credits are important. That there is cognitive dissonance.

debtors can't sell themselves even if they wanted to. Who would want to anyway?

If I had run up a large debt that would take me years to pay off (and seriously affect my lifestyle due to having to pay it), and I was offered the choice of a year (or more, depending upon size of debt) as a slave instead (after which time your debt is completely cleared), then I'd take the slavery option. Debt is just slavery by another name.

I feel the same. I wish that was a way to bring back Slaves to freedom. Just as alternative option than BLACK MARKET, or even better, activate a kind of RESCUE BEACON like a traumateam card in Cyberpunk, where a ship is coming to take it and save the slaves.

A very risky choice. Clearly you won't have the same rights as a free person. For a start you won't be free, not for the term of your enslavement at any rate. And your position would be open to the abuse of others. People who care nothing for the sanctity of Imperial honour for example. Somebody like Riley in Kate Russell's book 'Mostly Harmless'. Then there is the small print which might be evoked for the purpose of keeping you in slavery.

We all start this game penniless and I assume that many NPCs, if any of them had back stories, would have started out the same. In Federal and Alliance space at least. "So you have a great debt? Here have a Sidewinder and a thousand credits. Make some money with it and pay off your debt". Or do a runner and become a fugitive I suppose.

It's got to be better than slavery surely?

"So you have a great debt? Here have a Sidewinder and a thousand credits. Make some money with it and pay off your debt".

If I were given that option, then yes, that would be the most sensible to take. But who'd lend someone who just racked up thousands if not tens of thousands in debt, a Sidewinder and a bit of spending money?! You may as well just cancel the debt. :)

If the slavery is as per Empire principles (where slaves are meant to be treated well i.e. fed and watered, not beaten), it wouldn't be too bad. Of course, not all owners do follow such principles, but yes, that is the risk.

Totaly agree with you,

I was thinking about the same topic the last days.
What about landing into the station and, black market or not, let them free?

Never quite understood the slaves in a can thing. I prefer my slaves fresh, not tinned and filled with artificial preservatives.

Surely this was better in FE2 wereby the slaves were actually people that required you to have life support to transport them. Maybe when passanger mission become available this will be fixed.

Imperial slaves are not the same as Slaves; the former shouldn't be freeable due to the reasons above.

I do think that there should be more repercussions from your morals. If you're trading in morally questionable stuff then your reputation should start to shift with the more upstanding organisations (e.g. governments) and start to improve with more with pirate factions and the like.

More depth in what is stolen, pirated and unconventional means of trading would be a good thing.
