Can we make missions... I dunno... fun?

[rant] For real. I'm inside this massive solar system, with planets I can land on and icy rings I can explore, yet you have me spending nearly thirty minutes for a measly 20k jumping from system-station > system-station >system-station, only to have the AI consistently spawn on top of me and prolong this routine via bugged-out interdictions. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but the horse deserves it.

How about an AI that won't open fire 100% of the time, and can be warded off by dropping a certain amount of cargo? Or perhaps delivery missions that don't require me to go into super cruise/witch space? There's a lot of potential for emergent content here that is instantly wiped away by the fact that, through design, we're required to jump from instance to instance. Surface missions could also use a lot of love. As it stands now it basically amounts to staring at your scanner for POIs. It'd be nice to have landmarks named and marked on the surface map to guide us. Stuff like "go retrieve a shipment of narcotics from Moltke crater" or "deliver these narcotics to our type-9 sitting outside the border due east" would go a long way.

I really don't care about the grind anymore. I already spent hundreds of hours on Xbox, so I'm a lot more relaxed on PC in that regard. But daggum'... when missions do work, they only seem to foil any desire to do more in the future. [/rant]

Sorry guys. Still, for some reason, I absolutely love this game! I blame Stockholm syndrome. [noob]

The missions are fun most part, but after doing same missions 80+ times they get boring. No matter what kind of missions we get those will feel boring after you have done them multiple times.

Last I checked people like missions just fine, it is the broken ones that annoy, but yes when you do the same type of mission, in any game, repeatedly a lot, then yes, they can become a grind/boring, I really don't know how to fix this because no game of mmo style has really managed that.

It does strike me as odd that NPCs in RES areas do scan you, and leave you alone if you have nothing they want (cargo, bounty etc), but as soon as you enter SC it's like you get a huge red marker to say where you are, and the NPCs leave their cargo scanners at home.

I've only been playing a few weeks but have mostly avoided missions entirely due to them being bugged and just not very fun. Spend all my time ratting in High Resource areas and salvaging wreckage. Maybe after 2.1 I'll give them a go.

Pirate NPCs will leave you alone if your drop all your cargo. You do have to have cargo, though -- if your hold is empty they'll attack no matter what.

All good points, indeed. However I will say I just did one of the "cut the power" surface missions which involved taking out a generator for a defence turret at some high security penal colony and it was pretty fun! First tried to take out the turrets in my ship but i got hit with a huge barrage of missiles, then tried to sneak in with srv and wound up face to face with a goliath, so I was trying to fend that thing off whilst dodging incoming bullets from various sentries and turrets. Ended up dying, but I highly recommend for fun!

These are definitely missions worth doing. Just sucks to see that fun-factor not extend into the lesser combat-oriented missions.
