Can we please get a 'disable sound amplifiers' option? :)

Allow this option to disable the sound amplifier?

So I love the sound effects in-game. But we all know about the sound in space talk yadayada.

Turning off the life support actually disables what could be considered the system that amplifies the sound outside of your ship.

I LOVE the sound when it's off and it's very immersive, and I vote for having an option in the menu on our right where we can disable what could be calld the 'sound amplifier'.

I made a video to demonstrate the awesomeness of before mentioned :)

Surely the change in sound is because your helmet is muffling it when life support is off?

Well, it is a bit confusing, isn't it.

There is no muffling...vacuum has entered your cockpit so there should be no sound to muffle. The speakers are inoperable.

However, you can still hear some things. The engine, I understand as you are physically in contact with it through your bones and ship. The vibration of it would make its way to the air in your ear and would be audible. Though, you can hear the computer sounds that indicate hits on your target. This suggests there are speakers in your helmet. In that case, you should still hear everything then....eh...so inconsistent

Don't forget that we're closer to the time when kings were getting shot in the face with pointed sticks than we are to the depicted events of E:D.

If you'd said to Harold (right before his specsavers incident) that in less than one thousand years, you'll be able to listen to someone talking from the other end of the country and change how loud it is, in an enclosed carriage that is powered by the dead bodies of ancient monsters, and can get from Hastings to York in 4½ hours, he'd have probably used you as arrow fodder.
.
One of the fundamental tenets of our current understanding of science is that a particle cannot exceed the speed of light, and yet in E:D it's a totally necessary part of the game. There are already plausible explanations for being able to experience audio feedback of an explosion a mile away in a vacuum. I, for one, am not concerned by any lack of scientific credibility for that particular issue.

@Gorf

But couldn't we have the option to turn it off? Or, are there Apple products running these ships?

I've been asking for this since Beta 1. Everytime I brought it up I was shot down by a large group of forumers. Glad someone else brought it up. Make a poll.

I support almost all efforts to add buttons for us to press at our leisure/peril/need. Like orbital lines, this too may as well have a toggle.

Gotta love public polls, :D

So...INSTG8R and Mohrgan....any thoughts on why having the option to disable the simulated space sounds is not wanted? I think having a reasoning for wanting other things done first is fair...though, this would be so easy to implement, I might do it for them for free.

I'd love to get rid of all the engine noises. When not accelerating or decelerating I just want to hear RCS. I voted yes anyway.
