Can we PLEASE have the old computer voice back?

In the 3.9 build one of the first things I noticed was that they've changed or modulated the voice of your in-cockpit computer, and in my opinion it's not for the better :/

The new female voice sounds a bit harsher, and almost clipped in places. This makes it a bit grating to listen to at times. Seeing as we will be hearing this voice A LOT as we play the game over the coming months and years, can the Frontier Devs PLEASE:

- Give us the previous voice back.
- Give us a choice between the two.
- Or even a series of voices to choose from. Perhaps there are players who prefer a very 'robotic' voice, others may want a male voice?

Thoughts anyone? I'm not enjoying the new 'FRAm-Shift-Drive CHAH-Ching' at all :(

In your sound options, you can turn on and off certain verbal reports.

It seems to be a bit "longer" in its delivery which I can live without but it hasnt bothered me. I can't say its an "Improvement" but can't say its any worse either.

SLightly Off Topic - The sound of the new D-scanner pulling everything in to silence before it belows is AMAZING !

still can't tell if i like the new one better.
barely can hear her at all...
and if i'd pull up the volume until i can hear it, the walls around me would start tumbling in on the next jump.

I don't want to turn off any lines, I'd just like the old voice back :/ It sounds a bit more arrogant and less... human?

I like my computers arrogant :D

I actually hadn't noticed the change myself, will look out for it next time.

Interesting. I've seen a few people complain about the voice not standing out. I'm hearing it just fine like I used to. I did recently add a soundcard so I no longer use the crappy on-board soundchip. Wonder if that makes a difference?

i previously assumed it has something to do with mapping the wrong 3D channels to stero only. Doesn't seem to be the case.

Its amazing that people have not noticed...its a huge difference where I am sat ! (Xonar Essence II and Hi End Headphones).

@ Armante - sorry mate...I didnt mean turn them all off, just if its doing your head in ! I think some of the "reports" are not really necessary. When an anaconda has just parked on my windscreen shooting death lazers at me, the ship telling me I am taking damage isnt really needed and makes me shout at it (for example !)

That would be cool. Or can you imagine ORAC on board? That little squawk he'd make..
Perhaps the Dev's need to offer voice packs in the store (provided there are previews to listen to) might make a few bucks that way :)

Well I did upgrade my card, like you recommended, but not to anything as high-end as you're using!

Also - all good! I know what you mean about all the voices, but I don't mind having the chatter. Just the tone and 'clipped' speaking.

Now I may be completely wrong here, but I suspect the previous voice was recorded dialogue from an actress, where as the new voice is a computer synthesized voice.

I listened some radio interview once regarding AI voices (related to smartphones).

TL;DR:
If an AI voice sounds too close to a human, people interprete too much intelligence to it. So, even today, AI voices are "toned down" on intent.
"Siri" could sound much more human...but is designed not to.

I would rather have the old voice back.
This new one is to quite and it don't go with the voice pack i bought for voice attack.

I preferred the old voice. I'm a bit neutral on the new voice, but it's too quiet. I haven't checked yet, but it would be nice if you could set the voice volume level separate from the music levels and sound effects levels.

Yeah I was disagreeing about read vs computer dialogue. Guess I was wrong :)

I actually read through that looooooong change-log to pass the time whilst downloading the update, and I must have missed that line! Thanks for pointing it out, Granite!
Too bad. I miss old what's-her-voice. She sounded nice.

EDIT: Wait - This was in the change-log for 3.0? Then why did we have a change from 3.06 to 3.9? Perhaps they just changed the parameters for the computer-read voice..
