Can we really, visit all those stars?

Unfortunately, unless some rogue stations appear waaay out there where you can repair, then wear and tear will put a finite limit on the range of any explorer...
Wear and tear only affects armor efficiency. I don't recall what max wear and tear armor penalty is at wear and tear 0%, but the ship will be as good as new otherwise.

I'm about 8 thousand light years away from home and am really pleased to have visited this thread (hyperspaces as fast as possible AWAY from the galactic core...*)

No, some stars can't be visited yet. Some are so far out from other stars (over 40LY away from nearest stars) that they can't be reached atm. Hopefully we'll be getting specialized FSD drives that have huge range at an increased charge up time or slower supercruise speeds in exchange.

Thanks for the replys, alt-g to turn off hud helps and the rotate rings. wish you could turn off all the onscreen info, it would help so I can create more videos.

I have been looking at some stars on the map out on the rim - there are huge spaces between stars - even between spiral arms - i wonder if later in game we'll be able to buy some exotic exploration drives - obviously for a premium!

Incorrect. You lose a bit of performance and protection, but you can fly indefinitely otherwise. Could lead to some interesting situations when you are far from home and you encounter an alien race though (as and when they are implemented).

Thank you both for the confirmation that my assumptions were incorrect regarding the W&T as implemented.
