Can we talk about long-distance passenger missions?

I just found the perfect example of the problem with long-distance passenger missions.

There are some slight differences between these two missions.

• The top mission is a Pathfinder rank mission. The bottom mission is Elite.
• The bottom mission is secretive(IE, if you get scanned, you fail). The top mission is not.
• The top mission is for a destination 58ly away. The bottom mission is for a destination 1200 ly away.

So, the top mission is lower rank, less difficult, and 1/20th the distance.

It also pays better. In terms of raw distance, it pays about 20x better. In terms of difficulty, it probably pays 50x better at minimum.

Seriously, these long-distance passenger missions desperately need a substantial buff.

Passenger missions are a sub-reality within EDs own sub-reality... You can quantum tunnel to this reality only by playing ED it seems. While within this sub-reality, you may likely experience all sorts of distortions to any perceived norms within normal space. Passengers will happily part with significant quantities of virtual currency for seemingly rediculous reasons. As a rule it is seems that the player base is perfectly happy with this arrangement because it often works in their favour and they can then milk said punters for every credit that they own... 😉😋😎

Some observers using special devices to observe this behaviour from normal space (aka the OP) may consider this a rediculous game mechanic (to which, they would be right, aka Sirius Atmospheric et al), and ask for this situation to be addressed...

However, the poster would kindly remind the OP that waving ones hands in front of the gravy train like this is likely to bring it to a crashing halt...

Cease and Desist papers may therefore be issued... 😉🚀🍿

So is the good one too good or the garbage one too bad?

There has aways been a mix of good/bad missions in every genre.
With so many other broken mechanics/features in the game I cant really see how this rates much discussion.

What were you expecting, logic and functionality?
This is ED cmndr, we dont roll like that

What about all the bits you do not mention?

How much rep?

How much inf?

Who does the inf/rep go to?

What about the exploration data available?

What station will you sell that at?
(hey more rep/inf there too)

Looks like these are neutral, but potentially there is naval rank progression to be had there too....

Its not always just about credits....

The mission mat rewards are also better in the elite one.
Check out how much a passenger run to Colonia from Buzhang Ku (Coats) pays if you want a good bleat...
(same as the latter mission on your list - even the exploration data sale will boost the earnings, along with killing the deadly / elite anaconda hunter it is likely to spawn)

For a 2.5 million-passenger mission, I'll pick it up just to dump those "individuals" into the bottomless, cold space.

I used to pick up a bunch of passenger missions, while in the Colonia Nebula, all going to the beacons around Jaques - normally with mats as a reward option - surprising how many G5 mats could be picked up in a couple of hours - I think the credit reward paid for fuel & wear too ;)

That is a fact; the only time I ever, EVER picked money as a reward in a mission was when I was trying to get out of the Sidewinder. After that, it was always mats or reputation.

My money (not much, I agree) is always obtained by flying around black holes and white dwarfs and a couple of other different user-friendly places in the galaxy, not by doing missions. At least that way I can do what I really like, and also get a bit of a monetary reward as well.
