Quick question:
I'm looking at defection mechanics.
I've noticed previously your Merit Total gets halved when you defect, and you are assigned the appropriate rank in your new power for that total.
i.e. Defecting at Rank 5 with 12,000 merits seems to get you 6,000 merits in your new power, you get assigned the appropriate Rank 4, and paid the Rank 4 reward at the end of that cycle. i.e. Rank 5 -> Rank 4.
Defecting at Rank 4 with 10,100 merits (i.e. you're not Rank 5 yet) seems to get you you 5,000ish merits in your new power, you get assigned the appropriate Rank 4, and paid the Rank 4 reward at the end of that cycle. This theoretically proved that you don't always automatically lose a rank. i.e. Rank 4 -> Rank 4.
What happens if you are Rank 5 and have 21,000 merits and you defect? Do you get assigned Rank 5?
Theoretically you should end up with 10,500 merits in your new power, and be assigned Rank 5 in your new power, and receive the Rank 5 reward at the end of the cycle?
Does it actually work this way?
Is it not really 50% of the merits that get carried over... i.e. is there some sort of cap under 10K?
I've scoured forum threads for an answer to this one, but have not found anything yet.
Has anyone tried this? Or have a link to some definitive information about it?
