Can you dock at a different landing pad?

maybe a stupid question but i was wondering is it possible to dock at a different pad than the station allocates you if you are quick enough to avoid the fine and subsequent station death sentence?
might be worth buying a little sidey to test this out if no one else has tried this.

Yes, you just need to stay on the pad for say 60sec and it will automatically dock you at the last station you were before being exploded in a huge rain of explosions, fire and lasers.
